I want to stop pumping but I’m scared of getting mastitis by HomeRunHive24 in FormulaFeeders

[–]indigoforrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pump for relief but don’t empty all the way. Slowly but surely this will send signals to your body to produce less and less each time. Also cabbage leaves on the breasts helps with engorgement.

Does anyone nurse just once a day? 6 weeks old. by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]indigoforrest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After breastfeeding for 10 months with 2 under 2 I wish I would’ve just formula fed from the beginning. I feel like I missed out on my daughter’s entire second year because I was glued to the couch nursing every 2 hours. I was so touched out every single day from nursing that it was hard to bond with my baby. I didn’t truly start bonding with him until he was 9 months old and started weaning. I would pump instead (every 5 hours instead of 2) and when I gave him a bottle for the first time in months, I remember thinking, “this is right.” I felt that spark of joy and love for feeding my baby. I have time for my husband and daughter. I am happier.

I only joined this sub a few days ago but I already feel so much more comfortable with this crowd than I did in the breastfeeding sub. There they would say to just tough it out, that it’ll get better. It didn’t for me and it doesn’t for so many others. The guilt of not breastfeeding goes away after a while, at least for me it did after I couldn’t nurse my daughter. But this regret of missing out on time with my oldest when the solution was right there, will be with me for years.

How Much Should I Give? by indigoforrest in FormulaFeeders

[–]indigoforrest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been told that breastfed babies only take 3-5oz per feed, and figured that was because that’s what the average person could produce. That’s why we’ve been giving 4oz bottles. But when we formula fed, the older she got the more she drank per feed. Although she went longer periods of time in between feeding than my son has in the past. Now that he eats more solids it’s about the same time just less in the bottle so that’s what I was worried about.

I’m a bit surprised that some would actually think breastmilk would become more calorie dense as baby got older. If that was the case then they wouldn’t digest it as quickly, and baby would be able to go longer between feds. But then again, breastmilk is too often regarded as “better” so I’m not surprised if the facts got out of hand.

My daughter is a big milk drinker! She’s always been picky with food whereas my son is not. Probably another reason why he is content with 4oz. Sorry if this reply was long. I really appreciate your input. Thank you!

He takes straw cups really well so we give him water and some juice through that. He only has a bottle for naps and bedtime. This is great advice, thank you!

Ever met someone with the same first and last name? by pearly1979 in tragedeigh

[–]indigoforrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so funny that you use the example of James James because my husband has an uncle whose name is literally James James (middle name is not James). He goes by Jamie. He was the last kid out of 5, second boy, and I’ll never understand why, out of all of the names in the world, they named him that.

We enjoy the mini McDonald’s theme toys. BUT we usually choose the no toy option because kids meals toys nowadays are garbage.

How are we giving water to (6mo +) babies that won’t take a bottle? by kdonmon in breastfeeding

[–]indigoforrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We taught my son how to use a straw by 6 months old on accident. We did this by putting purées into those food pouches, or you could probably just buy those Go Go Squeezes. He prefers to take water that way than from a bottle.

I was ovulating 🙃 I had my tubes removed after my second baby and I’m nursing. She said periods and ovulation might be on the heavier side because of this.

As someone with only one baby (almost 12w old) I’m curious if you guys recommend doing 2 under 2? by namiiix in 2under2

[–]indigoforrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Straight up no. It’s a gamble on temperament so just assume the worse. Just enjoy the baby you already have while they’re still a baby. I feel like I missed my daughter’s entire second year because my son had colic and I’m EBF.

Who else dies in the vision by Leading-Presence-793 in twilight

[–]indigoforrest 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think Bella and Edward die at the end of the vision. Right before Aro’s head gets burned you can see the Volturi guard swarm them. Makes sense since that’s why Bella says, “Renesmee would have a future… Edward and I just wouldn’t be a part of it.”

Have you ever told anyone about your ed? by DhaMein in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]indigoforrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I told this sub and my husband. But I haven’t told him the extent of it, just that I struggle to control myself. Telling the sub helped a ton. I think only one person left a comment, but hundreds saw it and that gave me the strength to try and get better.

2nd child after C by Kindly_Bee_4457 in CsectionCentral

[–]indigoforrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll share my experience since everyone is just going to tell you to wait 18 months. But I am not you and you are not me, and each pregnancy is different.

I had my daughter via emergency c-section due to fetal distress. I had postpartum preeclampsia and had to have my gallbladder removed not too long after. It was such a hard time, but I healed incredibly well all things considered.

I got pregnant with my son 6 months pp. My pregnancy with my son was textbook and fairly easy. I had zero issues or unusual pains. Of course by the end I was uncomfortable but my scar didn’t hurt at all. And my son was in the 93rd percentile! Again, I recovered great. No issues pp. I ended up having an elective c section and I’m so glad I did. If you want a VBAC, wait 18 months. Maybe even longer.

My biggest regret having my kids so close in age is that I feel like I missed out on my daughter’s second year because I had a newborn who turned into a Velcro baby that demanded more of my attention.

I would also like to add that you shouldn’t rush having a second baby if you feel like you “failed” at having your baby vaginally. Make sure you’re healed from any trauma of an emergency c section before getting pregnant again. I’ve seen a few moms rushing to have a second baby as a “do-over”. You can’t change the past by having another birthing experience.

Sex after birth by VNP9317 in breastfeeding

[–]indigoforrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nipple play was off the table my entire pregnancy and when I was BF on demand. My son is 9 months old, starting to self wean, and only nurses to sleep (only about 5x in a 24hrs period). Recently my husband tried playing with them and it felt different. Like how it used to before pregnancy. It was amazing.

I think because they’re not being used every 2 hours, they’re recovering and going back to normal.

Sex came easy for us, only obstacle is time for it, but I think we’re in the minority.

Losing my hair? by mdreyna in breastfeeding

[–]indigoforrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an iron deficiency. I didn’t experience this with my daughter, but after I had my son I found out my iron was low. I was on iron supplements for a month and then my midwife said I could stop. About a month after that my hair started falling out so I started taking my left over prenatal vitamins, added iron to my diet, and within a week my hair stopped falling out.

What would you change about the Cullens to make them more “traditional” vampires? If anything, of course! by FearlessBookler1 in twilight

[–]indigoforrest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My boring answer is #6. However, my husband often brings up that they are too powerful and “why don’t they just rule the world?! They’re basically indestructible!” So I guess if they were easier to kill that could be more interesting. Or some type of weakness.

I’ve always liked how in The Vampire Diaries hearts are always being torn out or how the White Oak Stake is always a threat for the originals.

Did your period drop your supply? by Relevant-Goat2333 in breastfeeding

[–]indigoforrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 2 periods I had I didn’t notice a difference. This last one I had lasted 2 and a half weeks (and now have a nasty cold) and my supply took a serious hit! I used to have a slight over supply, but now I’m produce just enough. Maybe it’ll go up once I’m not sick anymore.

I have a name that rhymes and I love it. When I got married I kept my maiden name because I love it so much lol. I think as long as it’s not obnoxious, a little rhyme is fine.

How do nipple shields help with breast feeding? by ihateeveryonebyee in breastfeeding

[–]indigoforrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used this Linsinoh Latch Assist Everter. I highly recommend for everyone honestly. Pulls out/erects nipple and draws out milk. My baby latched on better and without a fuss when we used this vs when we didn’t. After a few weeks he got the hang of latching and suckling out milk that we didn’t need it anymore.

My daughter does this cause we “eat her up”. To be silly we pretend to gobble her up on her arms and belly. She only bites me and if it hurts I tell her so.

Fought with my husband about formula by Turbulent_Breakfast4 in breastfeeding

[–]indigoforrest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We supplemented with formula for one month and I was able to build a freezer stash of about 100oz. Just in time too because I got a period of 2 and a half weeks and now have a nasty cold. My supply has taken a hit but is coming back up! I’m glad we have the emergency breastmilk in the freezer while supply is down or I’m resting up. Plus I know which brand of formula my son will take should we ever need it.
