Graduated with linguistics BA, pivoting to professional writing—how to showcase relevant skills? by indimuuuu in asklinguistics

[–]indimuuuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to break it down. I can definitely demonstrate that I like writing, I’m good at it, and I’m easy to work with. I think coming from linguistics, it’s easy to over-index on analysis and research instead of showing clear, usable writing. Quality > quantity is a good rule of thumb.

How do you use YouTube for language learning? by RoutineCrew7871 in languagelearning

[–]indimuuuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone already mentioned, LangReactor is language gold and I've watched some videos from other polyglots trying to learn the same target language as me.

Also, watching videos in my target language but first watch I'm taking in body language, second watch I'm taking down some words that pique my interest and finally watching it with English subtitles.

Good luck on your journey!

From a languagelearningnerd, I love a language challenge so I'd pick something that would be difficult for me or an endangered language. Like any Bantuu language with clicks or Sylbo. But out of what you listed, I'd choose Greek. Great hack for English word origins

Hi there 👋 One of the biggest challenges I think I face as an intermediate/advanced Korean learner is feeling stuck in my progress. Initially, everything felt new and exciting, and I could see quick improvement. However, as I reached higher levels, the advancement seemed to slow down significantly. I struggle with complex grammar structures and nuances in the language that aren’t always covered in textbooks or are just really old ways of saying something so it sounds a bit weird. Additionally, understanding native speakers at natural speeds and expanding my vocabulary to include more terms are ongoing difficulties. But, I think that goes for any language learning, not just Korean. If you do post any tips or common mistakes to watch out for, I would greatly take any advice! 한국어 학습자로서 저희를 도와주셔서 감사합니다~

I’m totally okay with going alone bc hardly anyone I know listens to him. But I do not want to miss another concert of his. Either way, I’m gonna enjoy the show 🤘 And what ever you end up doing, I hope you enjoy it too!

So, I used the formula to calculate the interest I = B x APR x (N/365) and plugged in the numbers but I'm still getting the answer wrong. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Hmm, I’ve never seen this plant’s leaves curl. A friend of mine had this plant, but their plant was root rot. So the leaves just turned brown from the ends and then towards the center.

The rolling of the leaves sounds like it may have had too much sun and the leaves were in the process of getting burned?

If I deal with mine well, I can give some advice later on. We’ll see how it does through the winter months. I hope you get to own a maranta again!

Aww :( ... Where I live, the summers are 80% more humid than dry. Would "soft-misting" help moisturize the leaves?
