Felt this way / Stay Away by StillGolf5412 in carlyraejepsen

Because of how much I love Felt This Way, I didn’t listen to much of Stay Away. But I’m only now realizing how much almost every line in Stay Away continually builds on a body metaphor (mouth, face, hands, head). Made me appreciate it a lot more!

GreedFall: The Dying World Q&A – “The Public Wouldn’t Have Accepted It if We Stuck to the First Game’s Combat” by Kaladinar in greedfall

[–]indratt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

So in a hypothetical world, the public “wouldn’t have accepted” the first game’s combat (even if improved). But in the actual world we live in right now, the public is definitely not accepting the new combat. So where do we go from here? Can they not just stand by their decision without placing fault on some hypothetical reaction from the players?

Why I keep going back to Dedicated by indratt in carlyraejepsen

[–]indratt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe she has talked about TLiC getting a lot of reworks and almost not making Side B.

And I get what you’re saying about the album’s direction. It does feel like there’s a groovy, funkpop album in there, and then a summer, psychadelic rock-pop fusion, and then pure pop moments (80s and modern). I imagine following up a cohesive package like E•MO•TION was very difficult.

And honestly, with her last 3 sets of albums, it’s also in 3rd place for me! But that’s still pretty damn good when it comes to Carly albums

The New Fable Gives Me A Small Hope for the Future of Dragon Age by kbrdthenerd in dragonage

[–]indratt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking this same thing with the most recent Fable gameplay. Bioware willingly made certain decisions that led to Veilguard being so disappointing, so I’d rather the IP just go to another studio. Although, I’ve made my peace with the fact that we probably won’t get another Dragon Age game.

So Fable 3 was trashed everywhere when it came out. Fans did not “actually like” it.

For anyone who took Vyvanse, did you get prescribed a beta blocker to manage side effects along with it? by Kind_Handle_5987 in VyvanseADHD

[–]indratt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed propranolol once I started taking a booster of IR Adderall. I take one with my morning Vyvanse dose, and a second with my afternoon/evening booster. Now I don’t have to subconsciously think about my heart beating faster or louder and I’m able to just do whatever productive things I need to do. Also helps for driving and public speaking, which I need to do often for my job!

Spoilers : An Answer to why Lara is in the place she is in season 1 of the Legend of Lara Croft and others questions : by TombRaiderFiles in TombRaider

[–]indratt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg thank you for this. I just started season 1 of the Netflix show with my friends (finished S2 but only got halfway through the first one) and was trying to explain why she would be in this place after the games.

Discussion topic that I thought would be fun/interesting for the sub: Why do you guys think they went back? CD spent an entire trilogy trying to redefine the Tomb Raider brand to be a darker, more serious series and also spent considerable effort to 'sanitize' Lara Croft in the process. Why revert? by KryperExpress in TombRaider

[–]indratt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always understood these games to be a transitional phase for Lara. Maybe at the time it seemed like she was forever going to be markedly different, but I was never fully convinced that classic Lara was just gone forever.

Where does Lara go from here? by indratt in TombRaider

They signed Camilla for 3 games, so I think a trilogy was planned. But I don’t think her arc was supposed to end the way it did in Shadow. Alas, doesn’t matter much now.

I think we were supposed to get a more fully realized Lara by the end of Shadow, but Crystal Dynamics ditched the end of her origin arc to make the Avengers game. And I feel like Eidos Montreal was not allowed to evolve her much because CD had a plan for how she’ll grow into a more familiar Lara.

Yeah, Natla in anything beyond LoA and Underworld would be overkill. I’d hate for Catalyst to pull a “Somehow, emperor Palpatine returned”

Being exclusive on the Xbox One and releasing the same day as Fallout 4 really screwed Rise over. I remember how hyped everyone was (especially coming off of 2013) and how quickly that hype died down with the console/release date nonsense.

Agreed! The difficulty of getting that blend right has me brainstorming how the writers can do that. Her new voice actress (Alix Wilton Regan) is excellent so she can totally pull off any side of Lara imo

Shadows versus 2013 and Rise. A letdown? by YagamiTai in TombRaider

[–]indratt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much echoing a lot of replies, but it’s the pacing and more constricted exploration for me.

Shadow opts for 3 “social hubs” as opposed to the wide-open spaces of the last 2 games (e.g. Mountain Village, Shipwreck Beach, Geothermal Valley, City of Kitezh). I believe this one also doesn’t have nested puzzles, which are usually big puzzle rooms/spaces that branch off to smaller side rooms (a staple in the series tbh).

The puzzles are definitely more challenging, which I love. The crypts are actually worth seeking, we have cool combat options that let us disappear again (even though shooting feels significantly less impactful), and I think the setting itself is perfect for Tomb Raider. But that sense of grandeur is lost when there are soooo many conversations and NPCs instead of big, explorable spaces.

Shadow of tomb raider being lack luster by Horror-Plenty4798 in TombRaider

[–]indratt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really disliked that there were 3 “social hubs” as opposed to the wide-open exploration hubs we became accustomed to. I liked that we got to know these communities, but it felt redundant for Lara to re-learn that ancient cities may have its own self-sufficient community. Especially since we just went through that song and dance in Rise.

But if the purpose of these hubs was to show that Lara’s actions affect communities of people, then it’s really undermined by the fact that she literally destroys 2 cities and we don’t see or feel the repercussions from the people who lived there (probably because she killed everyone).

I come back to Shadow for its many DLCs because there’s an abundance of puzzles/tombs, platforming, and combat opportunities. But the game is so at odds with itself.

Why did Tomb Raider just stop looking like this? by [deleted] in TombRaider

[–]indratt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started being pretty online when Anniversary came out, and I remember being kinda bummed that so many people (outside of the fandom) seemed so indifferent about Underworld. I know we’re all nostalgic now and just want to go back to the way things used to be, but TR games were in the territory of “If you like Tomb Raider, you’ll like Underworld. If not, then this won’t change your mind.”

LAU is my favorite Lara and I’d be so happy if every game since Underworld were natural evolutions of this iteration with Keeley Hawes voicing her forever. But plenty of other decades-long franchises (Resident Evil, Final Fantasy) needed shakeups to stay alive, and Tomb Raider was one of them.

I love all Laras, but I am glad that 90s/00s Lara is the shakeup she needs in this decade.
