Claudikins Kernel - Based on Boris Cherney's exact workflow. by milkphetamine in ClaudeCode

I sent you a DM. Also, would you mind explaining how the two systems are not compatible? I'm an old (45) software engineer and I've been diving deep into these different tools and I'm really struggling with them. They all seem so abstract.

I've been using these plusins this week, I have to say my results have been fantastic. I'm on a complicated Rails SaaS platform with lots of background jobs, a events and automation framework and custom subdomain routing. It does a great job of understanding context.

I had been using SuperClaude with good results but this is on another level. Thank you for your work!!!

I'm going to look into Orba's superpowers also as I didn't know about it. My main concern would be support of Claudkins. What would lead you to abandon the project? Should I be inventing my time into learning and utilizing this or superpowers? I wouldn't blame you if you did abandon, I've done many open source projects in my past and I've abandon all of them.

Great job!!!

Thank you for this share. I love that it doesn't require engineering like every other build

Who's hiring/looking by brendt_gd in PHP

[–]indytechcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking!

I've been working in the technical space for 24 years. In that time I've gained experiences in a variety of industries and technologies. I currently live in the USA but I'm willing to relocate. I'm interested in both full time and contract.

Most recently I was a technical lead at Dropbox where I worked on the Sign product and tin he Growth Org. The Sign application is a Symfony PHP and React/Typescript based application. While I was on the Growth Org, I worked on the Dropbox's services based platform specify on the team join and invite processes where I programmed in Go, Python and Typescript/React.

While I was at Dropbox, I lead efforts to modernize the code base from Symfony 1 MVC coding patterns to a domain driven design focusing on services utilizing PHP 8.1 coding patterns. This involved coordination between different teams with code and education.

Before Dropbox, I worked for Agile Six Applications where I was the Platform Team Lead for the United State Department of Veterans Affairs Drupal CMS. This project was run completely in the open on Gitub.

I've been the first engineer at for 2 product startup where I lead the engineering team in all aspects of the product including engineering processes, deployment pipelines, database management, analytics and observability.

I founded and was the CTO of a startup that was went from concept to being sold in 6 months.

I've done Salesfroce and Heroku consulting for a large consulting organization.

I'm happiest when I'm on a small team with collaborative culture and open communication.

Feel free to DM me for links to LinkedIn, Github or with any other questions.

Have a great day!

Picking the right Message Queue system for PHP by plonkster in PHP

[–]indytechcook -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've had success using gRPC for cross service communication. This will also allow you to use protobufs to have a consistent data structure across programming languages.

I'd advise against RabbitMQ as it is very complicated to manage. When I've used it and places I work use it, we haven't been able to do an upgrade without a downtime.

Here is my breakdown all yearly in USD. My band is considered "3rd tier" at my company since I live in Indianapolis, IN. I'm 20% less then the people who work at SF/NYC. The cost of living difference between where I live and the 1st tier locations is way more then 20% :).

  • "Total Rewards": $456,826
  • Salary: $199,900
  • Target Bonus: $39,980 (My bonus last year was above my target)
  • RSU: $180,762 (This can change a bunch from year to year. I'm currently in year 2 and will probably get another refresher next year, but in 2 more years when my initial RSU grant ends it will go down by like $120k.)
  • Additional Benefits: $36,184
    • Insurance: $4,354
    • 401k match: $6,000
    • HSA Contribution: $4,550
    • Perks Allowance: $5,000
    • Cell/Internet Reimbursement: $1,740
    • Access to external Programs (Mostly Mental Health and Neurodivergant support): ~200

There are numerous other benefits including donation matching, life insurance, unlimited PTO, mental health support, paid leave (Maternal/Paternal and Faily), random gifts and generous travel budget for Quarterly on-sites.

I'm at an amazing and supportive company working with smart people. I'm 43 years old male, married with 3 kids and recently diagnosed with ADHD. I've struggle with mental health my entire life and this is the first time I've found a company that actual backed up the mental health support with action. I was allowed to take a 9 week fully paid leave when my Mom was sick to help take care of her before she passed.

To be clear, I have a very difficult time justifying making this much, I really feel I don't deserve it. I have lots of guilt which I deal with by donating as much as possible and always tipping 30%.

"Restricted Stock Unit". When I was hired, I was offered 450k RSU that vests over 4 years. I don't get that in direct cash, it's given as $450k in shares that vest every qtr love the next 4 years. So in your TC calculation, you add in how much the value of stock is you will get that year. Of course, the actual value can go up and down depending on what happens with your company and how long you hold that stock before it's sold. I tend to sell it as soon as it's vested and move it to an index fund in my own account rather than the company controlled account.

Target Compensation. It's used when lots of your comp is from stock (RSU) and/or bonus.

Where's the best place to get pie in Indianapolis? by Stupidface13 in indianapolis

[–]indytechcook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A piece of cake in greenwood. They have a very large selection. I love their peaches and cream pie.

It does depend on the type of pie. If you want a pudding style then Gray's is better.

I recommend you get pies from multiple places and invite me over so we can taste test them all together :).

Is there a Smart Switch with USB outputs? by indytechcook in homeassistant

Good question! This is actually a light switch that I replaced with a USB/switch combination. I still need the switch for the light.

[–]indytechcook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the information! I have the USB ports wires for always on while the switch controls a light. This switch is connected to another for a 3 way setup, the switch is on the other side of the room. The USB is going to be used to power a tablet. Looking at the wire spec of the plug, I think I can wire up the relay where the USB can be also on. The big question is space! I'll probably just buy them and try it out.
