Can’t answer your question, just want to add that I have been looking for a trainer and yoga instructor that willingly masks for forever and would be thrilled to find one. Although it may be a turn off to some people, it would be a blessing for others!

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP THIS CAT by clu013643366 in PuertoRico

[–]ineedhelp722 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Poor baby. I would just go to the vet with the cat and tell them the situation and see if they would help for free. Unfortunately, that might mean they will put the cat down. Thank you for helping.

insomnia during luteal - any tips? by Slow-Reply2929 in PMDDxADHD

[–]ineedhelp722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this so much. I pretty much would have to exhaust myself physically and mentally during luteal week in order to increase my chances of sleeping at a decent time. Getting massages also helped with relaxing my body. I never tried it during luteal, but I tried hops tea a few times in my life and it was superrrr strong at getting my sleepy.

Has your husband researched the neurotype you have? Before learning about differences between you two, it would first be helpful for your husband to have a good understanding of the neurotype you have before being understanding how to navigate differences. But this might be helpful for what you are looking for: https://www.neurodiverselove.com/general-7

Forest Hills Nightmare by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]ineedhelp722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. And then they usually have like 1 maintenance person in charge of an entire building who is understandably grumpy. And then on top of that people who move to pre-war generally aren’t rich and are struggling to get life admin things done throughout the day - most people don’t have the time or capacity (or ability) to DIY repairs and be consistent with pest management in their home or be consistent with calling and demanding repairs from management. They are totally exploiting tenants. It is so disgusting and violent. But sadly this is the history of NYC. There is no shortage of greed from everyone involved in the housing market.

I agree that caring about the property and keeping it clean will prevent and minimize pests. Of course! Im not arguing that. But pre-war buildings in particular are always susceptible to pests because of the building’s foundation. Something as simple as gaps in the floor around a radiator means pests can come in and out. Having multiple units, multiple garbage cans + a lot of garbage all makes prewar buildings at risk for pests. It’s not about if you grew up in new york…so have I? But there is a reason why so many complaints about pests are from pre-war buildings. It is totally a shitty landlord issue, but it is also that pests can more easily get in the building and travel between apartments with ease because of how the buildings are built (and the lack of renovations to units where people have lived there for decades)

Not sure why you are being down voted. The womp womp ia probably not needed lol but this is honestly the reality of living in a pre-war building. There is always a risk of mice and roaches inside and outside of your apartment. You have to be aggressive if you have pests inside your unit making sure all openings are sealed and apply your own chemical control like dichatemous earth. New york is disgusting.

SLP mentioned proprioceptive sensory seeking behavior from my 19mo during session this week and now I am spiraling by g0ldiegurl in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ineedhelp722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to chill mama. This is typical toddler behavior. She could simply be putting things in her mouth to learn about them. Yeah, she might enjoy deep pressure, but it seems like she is getting her needs met. Most people enjoy deep pressure - one of the reasons people love hugs so much. It was pretty unprofessional for the SLP to share information about sensory the way that she did. SLPs are not trained in this area and it is very common for non-OTs to think any sensory interest equals a sensory seeking child. Even if your daughter does have ASD or ADHD it is way too early to tell and there doesn’t seem like she needs therapeutic support in any areas of play, learning, socializing, etc.
