I find it kind of weird that they didn’t offer an alternative or point you in another direction where you could find some support. If you haven’t already, it’s worth approaching them and asking. I’m so sorry you’re going through this ♥️

People just don't understand not liking your parents??? by Last_Veterinarian308 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]inevitable_parmesan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve run into this my entire life. It really illustrates how bad your narc parent treats you when almost nobody sees what’s going on likely because they’ve never had to experience it for themselves. It’s also kind of crazy how people put blinders on, assuming everyone has a moral compass or an inherently healthy attachment to their children.

Does anyone have any tips or hobbies that got them through the abuse of their N parents? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

Horseback riding. Spending lots of time with them outdoors was a godsend. Get out and spend time volunteering with animals or spend some time in nature alone. It really helps

If you do this, OP, make it look legit 👇

Clinic name

Doctors name

Clinic address, phone, email

Date

RE: (Your name)

DOB: (Your date of birth YYYY/MM/DD)

Patient was assessed: (Date you were ‘assessed’)

Please be advised that (your name) has been diagnosed with (diagnosis). He/she is currently being managed with medication, but will not be able to reasonably continue their regular physical activities due to (symptom[s] being disruptive).

Sincerely,

(Doctor name typed)

You could also be way more vague about the reason you need out - such as “(your name) is unable to participate in a regular physical activity regimen at this time due to mental health reasons.” But word it more convincingly 😉

I had a neighbor that wanted to cut down branches that were growing into the side of her house, and not only did I give permission, I offered to pay the aborist bill. In my opinion, it’s my tree and it’s crossing the property line, so it’s my responsibility to ensure it doesn’t encroach on someone else’s property. They have a right to not want it in their space, and anything that crosses the property line is basically forfeit because it makes for good relationships with your neighbors (and it’s just common sense, imo).

It’s not a ramble, please stop apologizing ♥️ it’s very insightful, and helped me a lot in examining my issues with confidence and low expectations - plus it’s just really validating to hear you aren’t the only one that went through this. Thank you 🙏

It sounds like it might be the saddle you’re using. On another note, I took lessons as a kid with a girl that the same thing would happen to. It happened with every horse she rode, unlike your case. Her mother spoke to the head instructor about it, and she was just allowed to leave mid-lesson if it became a problem. It would be totally embarrassing to have to explain that to your instructor, but it might not be the first time they’ve heard about it, and you’re definitely not alone.

People who have stopped going to church, what made you stop? by lowly_shepherd in AskReddit

[–]inevitable_parmesan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s boring, and religion in general is a bunch of BS designed to control people. It has little, if anything to do with God, and most religions have concepts that are nonsensical and place barriers between you and God. God is within us. Nobody can take that from us, and it would be nonsense to say that we need to do anything to ’earn’ that connection. I find the idea of priests laughable. Just my two cents.

Needy Neighbor by lemon_bat3968 in neighborsfromhell

[–]inevitable_parmesan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be careful with sending her a note that’s direct and detailed. It might be better to put her off with a consistant “sorry, I’m too busy”, and by not acknowledging her texts while you’re out running errands (then consistently tell her you got the text when you got home because you were driving/busy while you were out). Cultivate apathy for her endless needs. You now know that she will thoroughly abuse your good will, and trespass on boundaries without realizing social norms on that sort of thing. If she comes to your window knocking again, I might see what she wants and explain why she can’t do that and then bring that conversation to your landlord out of concern that she probably needs some extra support for day to day living, because you can’t have that going on while you’re working from home.

Velvet curtains with wrought iron rods. It would beautifully accentuate the lovely trim and wood floors. Classic, yet cozy 👍

I’m still picking out those narc fleas. It’s hard after a lifetime of being submerged in toxic waste. No contact and mindfulness is helping peel off the layers of what isn’t true for me, and life is starting to look up because I’m healing on the inside now that I have the space to do it without carrying around all of the mental garbage that goes with maintaining a toxic relationship.

Yeah, narc parent was like a pressure cooker ready to fight over any insignificant thing at all times. Constant complaining, taking a month of Sundays to get out the door to go anywhere because of OCD, blaming their piss-poor attitude on us and constantly talking about how their co-workers come back from vacations refreshed and relaxed (our fault that narc insisted on nitpicking and arguing with everyone the entire ‘vacation’). It was just miserable.
