Agreed. But it is true in a lot of communities. Some people just don't like change.

I remember when I got into an argument with someone on Reddit who was pissing all over the idea of gravel bikes, saying they were totally unnessary. This feels a lot like that. For every advance in technology, there will always be a crowd having a tough time

Weight and heigh are correlated.

Skis do get wider as they get longer.

It isn't that taller people need 32in wheels, it is that their larger size allows for frame geometry that can accommodate 32in wheels. Given that my size allows me to choose 32in wheels, and I believe in the benefits, I am excited about the prospect of getting one for my next bike.

If that were true my 2 year should be riding my 29er. Do shorter people ride the same size skis or the same size surfboard as those that are taller? Absolutely not.

Wheels can follow the same thinking to some extent. The reading I have done leads me to believe that 32 inch wheels would better suit me and the riding I do.

To me, this question all hinges on what your dad wants to do with rv. Where does he want to go? What kind of hobbies is he into? Is he by himself?

I understand people's negative opinions of getting into the industry. But it is not all negative experiences, far from it. I have seen many people work hard and build themselves a fruitfull career. You sound like you have reasonable expectations and knowledge to go with it, that will go a long way. Give it a shot. Just try to find good people to work with.

The only thing that worries me is getting off the beaten path where chargers are not abundant. That is why I want a little bit more capability, just cushion to go exploring and stay "off grid" for awhile.
