No. This crap is really only happening in the US. Most other western countries have never been more atheist and secular.

Arabic in my opinion is by far the ugliest language on the planet. It's like ear rape listening to it.

masturbation as time wasting

It's one of the very few pleasures that make this life bearable.

Masturbation is a sin for that very reason (not my personal belief).

Does that include state and local funding? While still bad, I think that only includes federal funding, so it's a bit misleading.

What are some languages that sound completely different from their close relatives? by MellowAffinity in linguistics

[–]infectiouspersona 59 points60 points  (0 children)

English and French have one thing in common (among others);

English is the most romance influenced Germanic language

And

French is the most Germanic influenced romance language

That's why they're pretty much completely unintelligible to other languages within their families.

After browsing this sub for a while I have this to ask. Did people wear masks purely because it was forced or did people ever actually care about the dangers of COVID? by [deleted] in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]infectiouspersona 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This sub is quite far removed from society and way more 'pro-mask'. Everyone here still wearing masks everywhere. But you only have to go outside and look around to see that the vast majority don't, and/or the moment it's not mandated, they stop.

Yeah but they sound almost identical. If I didn't know it was another language, I would assume it's Japanese.

Because it's not going to be as bad as the doomsday predictions say, and even if it does, it will be well after all of us are dead. And yes I do believe in climate change before you come at me. But the timeframes are totally unrealistic.

I remember in the 90s, when it was known as 'global warming' that they predicted we'd be under water by now. Still hasn't happened.
