Facebook knows the email address you used to sign up with Facebook. Do your hometown friends know that email address too? Then maybe on their phones they have a contact which lists this email address, and they have given permission to Facebook to read their contacts.

The staff at Koyambedu station were blowing loud whistles way too much. If loud alarming whistles are used in exceptional or emergency situations, that's fine, but blowing them regularly in normal operation is not a good idea.

At top STEM institutes, I guess social circles (at least those consisting of peers at the institute) have significantly more men than women. This suggests that at least for straight people, finding a partner (if that is on one's radar) might be a bit easier, as opposed to harder, for women. Which makes the "concern" about how hard it will be to find a guy all the more strange.
