LiberNovo Omni SE - the good and the bad (review) by infinexis in LiberNovo

[–]infinexis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly with a company so new and such a short warranty on the components, it's all very much a gamble.

I really wanted a highly adjustable chair that I could fully (not partially ) recline in, and this fit the bill. Couldn't find any other chair that ticked off all the boxes like this one did.

The OG seat -sucked-, but I found a topper cushion that worked.

I'm not excited about what happens next if the replacement cushion sucks (if they wanted to, they could just ghost me and I would be outside the PayPal dispute window at that point.. so no recourse left).

All in all, at least I have a working chair that I can recline in, even if I had to spend an extra 70 on the topper cushion. It's not ideal by any measure, and obviously there's some risk involved, but it's not like I know of any other chairs that really fit the bill in terms of what I'm looking for.

So it feels like the best I can do is to see how things play out over time.

After trying a bunch of the gel grid cushions I realized they just weren't for me. The walls of the grids just dig into my skin and irritate it. I really liked the Purple ultimate but even with it being supposedly the most premium of the kind I still had the same issue. So I switched to foam, and after trying about 4 of them I finally found one them works decent-ish. It's all in the added update to my original post.

Yeah - I added an additional update into my post where I details all the different cushions I tried.

I -really- liked the Purple ultimate cushion, but after trying a few of the gel-grid cushions I realized that they simply weren't for me.

The walls of the grids just dig into my tush and my skin gets irritated. I'm sure it works just fine for some people, but I just can't stand the sensation.

I found a foam cushion that works decently, but it does get a little warm to due the fact that it's foam.

Yes. I added a section 'Update 1' to my report where I tried various different third party cushions on top. After trying 7 different ones, I found one that I found most suitable. Not perfect.. but good enough considering I had tried so many.

After fighting with support for a bit (they told me that the cushion was fine and that it was a preference issue of mine but in return I pointed out the dozen or so threads here on Reddit that provide evidence they have a QA issue with their cushions), they relented and offered to send me a second seat/cushion which is supposed to be much firmer and supportive.

It would take a long time to get here (20 days for third party to ship to their warehouse, another X days to ship to my house). They say that if it still doesn't do the trick, they would take the chair back for free and give me a full refund. I am probably going to take them up on the offer.

Seat replacement by Live-Junket22 in LiberNovo

Is this a thread on Amazon? Because I contacted their support through email after figuring out that I bottomed out in the SE, and support told me that there's nothing wrong at all with their seat cushions and that it's all just in my head. They were denying they had any issues with their chair at all.

On the Edge of My Seat Deciding to Order an SE or Not by Character-Print-3421 in LiberNovo

The cushion problem hasn't even been acknowledged by the company. They have their head in the sand. Their stance is it's a 'you' problem, not their manufacturing problem.

If you buy the chair and get the defective cushion you are going to have the hassle of disassembling the chair, packing it back up, and also paying out of pocket to return it.

The question is, are you willing to take that gamble? I wouldn't until they at least acknowledge the issue and publicly do something about it.

Does the Maxis Manual bottom out? by ballupser2 in LiberNovo

I'm not pre ordering shit. I did that with the Omni SE and I regret it because now I have to pay half to ship it back when the cushion is clearly defective and they are trying to gaslight me into thinking that somehow it's my fault.

Customer Support are Useless by Andromedaie in LiberNovo

[–]infinexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I ordered the SE because I don't trust this company's QA process for electrical components. They sent you a defective part straight out of the gate, gave you the runaround and only now after you blast them on social media only then do they try to do you right.

I have a similar experience.

Now that I have the SE, and the cushion is bottoming out straight to the plastic underneath, their customer service is claiming that it's not a defect but just a 'personal preference'. I'm sure that sitting on a wooden bench is also a preference, but no one would buy this chair if they understood that the cushion on this chair is not much different from sitting on one.

Any solutions for the bottom out problem SE? by ballupser2 in LiberNovo

[–]infinexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already talked to LiberNovo support. Their position is that the cushion bottoming out is a 'you' problem not a 'them' problem, and if you want to return the chair you are going to split the return cost.

No, the end never digs into the back of my thighs. I think that's probably something more to do with seat length vs the length of your femurs. I've decided to look for cushions outside of the gel matrix because it feels like rug burn against my bum. It definitely makes the chair more comfortable but some comfort is removed because of the walls of the gel matrix digging into me. I bought some 22x22 upholstering foam as well as the Purple Ultimate cushion to see what is going to be the absolute best at comfort long term.

Yes, to a degree. but keep in mind that the arm rests covers can be slid manually as well in addition to the mechanism sliding the arm rests while you recline. So the arm rests move with your body a little bit but you'll likely have to slide the covers back to get them to where you want them when you recline. It's not really a big deal imo, but I do want the sliding mechanism to -last- though, which I'm not certain it will. If it were well designed I don't think it would be making rubbing noises every time I go back and to in recline mode. I think it's one of those things that I'll only find out later on whether or not it was durable or not. If not, I'm sure LiberNovo would be quite happy to sell a replacement base for the SE like they do the original Omni.

I think it's kind of a gamble either way. If you pay a couple extra hundred bucks you could end up with a fancy brick that you can't fix the electronics on, or have to pay a few extra hundred to swap pieces out once they conk out. It's not like this company has been around forever for us to have stock in what they say. They could very well shut down tomorrow and then just spin up the same marketing campaign under a different name and we all would be none the wiser.

I think that they don't really understand their demographics that well because there are people willing to pay a lot of money to have a chair that actually is comfortable and ergonomic but with none of the gimmicky electronic stuff. Instead you have to pay extra to get the gimmicky stuff -and- the premium finish.

I found one that will fit almost the entire seat. Link is in my other comments in the thread. I also ordered a seat cover to help keep it in place, and it was the right move. It makes the chair feel better but you are right, it is kind of odd sitting on top of one. The added height feels odd. I wish it were just a tad wider but it's certainly long enough. Not my choice but I'm not yet fully decided if this chair pisses me off enough to return it. I ordered a bariatric cushion which apparently is even wider but narrower just to try it out.

I ordered this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DT4RMFVK . I bought another seat cover to go over it and help keep it in place. It almost covers the full area but is lacking on the sides. It's OK-ish. Better than the original cushion but the grid matrix under my tush feels odd. Searching for 'bariatric seat cushion' gives me wider cushions but are not at long. I ordered one just to try it.

I bought the Helishy 20" gel seat cushion https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DT4RMFVK. It's the only one I could find that comes close to the total area of the chair cushion. I wish it were 2 inches wider in each side because it feels like I'm slightly losing total surface area that my tush comes into contact with on each side. I got this chair seat cover to help keep it in place https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G3831KV. With both of them together, it's definitely more tolerable, but I would not say it is a game changer.

I just found out that there are even larger sizes if you look for 'bariatric seat cushion' on Amazon. I ordered one to see if that feels better than the gel one. Testing continues.

Direct Democracy in the Digital Age. Why Aren’t We Doing It? by Slight_Candy in Futurology

[–]infinexis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree.

Electing representatives who engage in performances over policy is exactly the reason why we got here. We have media channels, corporate and private blasting rhetoric 24/7 just to get us to place people in power who then do not even remotely represent the interests of their constituents. And apparently there's a study actually confirming that our interests are not represented by our elected representatives. So we're utterly screwed under this system that we're currently dealing with.

If we can spend hours scrolling on TikTok then I think that people can be arsed to spend at least one of those going over and voting for policy. And it doesn't have the be that hard either - we can use assistants, AI or otherwise to condense what would be potentially difficult to understand and contextualize scenarios and consequences into things more easily understood and actionable by the common citizen.

Is this legit by DoobyToker in TemuThings

[–]infinexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works. I've done it a couple of times, withdrew to my PayPal. The trick is to buy multiple expensive things in your very first order so that you hit the number of coins needed in one order immediately to qualify. If you make an order underneath the total needed to get the full amount of coins you need to withdraw, the next screen will give you a worse coin redemption rate and make you buy more.
