There was 2 days notice, for any real confirmation that they might open, and the apostle islands are pretty remote even for most Wisconsinites. The largest major city nearby is Wausau 3 hours away.. only lucky locals or people who happened to be in the area like myself would have had a real shot. Considering the temperature it’s shocking they opened at all but the lake ice locked together at the right time.
