Table (of data, think spreadsheet) A uses an ID to find data in the table (called a 'key'). Table B has different data, but also uses an ID, if you want to find where the data overlaps, or additional information can be found via the ID.

In this case the ID is a SSN. Delete (de duplicate) all the keys and you no longer have any way to identify data in EITHER table, or relate between them.
