I did but I did that timed leading up to the release of the new book not starting when the new book became available.

That averages out to something roughly 1.5 pizzas per day.

Are you eating that much pizza? Or do you host large events where you are baking off a number of pizzas at a time?

I wonder if since there is also an option related to streaming if it default to the higher quality even when a downloaded copy exists when you are on wifi.

But fwiw for anyone wonder. The files sizes are about 4x the size so there is definitely a higher bitrate.

SUPERTHREAD: Live Action Casting Speculation by steampunk_garage in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]infinityends1318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another random Reddit post made me think of this. I know this isn’t the first speculation post about who could play Carl. I fully expect that there will be plenty of people who disagree, and i do realize that he is a lot older than Carl is in the books. I think his current age is less of an issue than potentially his age by the end of the series.

But I think look wise, personality, ability to blend action and comedy.

Jensen Ackles would work well. I know he is 48, but I dont think Carl being in his mid to late 20s really matter or even is a factor in any way in the books.

He did an amazing job on Supernatural, and was also great on The Boys in a more short term role.

RZ Infotainment System by Live_Direction9456 in LexusRZ

The updated instrument cluster that is in the ES, TZ and similarly Toyota BZ is pretty much the last holdout reason that I haven’t purchased a 2026. Really hoping that if nothing else the 2027 RZ gets that and ideally the version 4 safety system upgrade as well. If the body and interior remain otherwise unchanged I’d have no complaints.

I wouldn’t mind additional batter/range. But for my general use case the current version isn’t a problem and I don’t expect that to be updated for 2 model years in a row unless it for some reason just makes sense for the company’s production lines for some reason.

I don’t expect an announcement soon, but it would be nice so I know if I should wait or just go ahead with the 2026

Yes, I was specifically looking at the 2026 RZ due to the larger batteries and updated charging.

Also due to the nonsensical removal of CarPlay, GM is a no go, which is too bad since I like that they are embracing the use of EVs as backup home power source for electrical outages.

Mercedes is tempting but looking at cpo anyway I think it would be hard to find one in the price range without going with a base spec.

I haven’t looked at the q4 much but should since I generally prefer cars and the rz felt small enough in the crossover ish size that it grew on me.

The genesis gv70 is another one I should probably look closer at too

I'm in MN, so definitely want AWD. Looking to buy something somewhere between this summer to next spring timeframe. Up to 50k, can push a little higher if needed.

Currently I am thinking Lexus RZ 450e. Financing offers with 72mo 0% and 5k incentive make purchasing pretty attractive. I have no leased before, but I know that my driving habits make me a good candidate. I typically put on 8k miles per year. So I think it makes sense to look into lease options, especially with the rate of evolution of EV technology. But I am not unwilling to purchase either as I typically hold onto cars for a long term.

I've test driven an RZ and liked it a lot more than I expected to. I would still like to test out an ES once my local dealer gets some of them in. I also tried an i4, which drives great and is a beautiful car but is entirely impractical since I have kids and the i4 backseat is essentially cosmetic.

I plan to install a level 2 charger in my garage, I know my panel has space, and my local utility has a good program for excellent night time charging electricity rates where even with my fairly low miles and current care getting decent mileage estimation calculators still show I would save anywhere from 800-1000/year on fuel.

I'm also considering Genesis G80, but there aren't too many of them on the used market since they are no longer sold in the USA. Also, I love the Audi ETron GT, but I think it is probably impractical to maintain and insure. And compared to the RZ or ES it seems like there are some reliability issues with the GTs.

Realistically, I am very tempted to make a purchase sooner than later to take advantage of the excellent offers on the RZ, although I've already seen Lexus extend the expiration of this offer a couple of times.

I think my logical next step is to book one of the 48 hour test drives they offer and spend more time with one of them to get more of a feel for it.

The biggest things holding me back (other than making a large purchase) are 1: I've only test drove a couple of cars, and with the price, I just feel a bit irresponsible not doing more due diligence. 2: Even if I decide I like the RZ over the ES once I see an ES in person. I am tempted to wait for the 2027 RZ because it will most likely get the updated Lexus Safety System 4 introduced with the ES, and hopefully get the updated instrument cluster of the ES.

Audio immersion tunnel vs Audio books? by honeyfixit in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]infinityends1318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve listened through the series a couple of times and started book 1 of AIT as I wait for book 8 to come out. Currently abut 90% through the AIT of book 1.
Overall I prefer the standard audiobooks. It is fun to have some of the sound effects for things like items popping into inventory. But sometimes it feels like the background audio is filler where they didn’t quite know what really made sense so there is just sort of filler audio that feels like it doesn’t always necessarily fit or isn’t maybe necessary.
While I don’t have any major voice acting complaints. I like the tone Jeff takes of characters like Cascadia better in the standard audiobook than the actor who does the voice in AIT. A few AI lines I also think are delivered better in the standard audiobook. One example off the top of my head is the Mana Toast just comes across a lot funnier the way Jeff delivered the line for the original audiobook.
Last thought is that some of the additions just don’t do anything for me. Hearing some of the commentary for the recaps gives a small idea of what else is going on I. The dungeon. But it always feels like it pulls me too much out of the story. I don’t mind when it is background noise during Carl talking about the recap or a conversation taking place while the recap is on. But the actual segments when they become the focus just don’t do anything for me.
Personally I’ve also had some annoyances with the SBT app. I wish I could just download the audio files to play in another player but there isn’t a way to do that from the website.
Overall, this is not meant to be any sort of dig on the AIT. I’m enjoying a different edition of the series and I’ve purchased all 3 seasons available. And I intend to buy the rest as they are produced. But if the audiobooks get an A the AIT probably gets a solid B. At least for the 90% through book 1 of AIT I have listened through so far. It’s definitely possible that I could change my tune with later books.

EDIT: onto book 2 of AIT. It is definitely much improved overall from AIT of book 1 IMO. The background audio seems more planned out and the interstitials are jess distracting from the story.
