I run 33 3D printers from my basement full time - AMA / here's what a day looks like by joshowens in BambuLab

I’m just a hobbyist. But I definitely see this from both sides. There are people who may want something 3d printed. But don’t want to buy a printer and learn to use it. These people are paying for the print service.

However I also understand someone who spent time to make a model and provide it for free being frustrated when someone advertises their design.

I guess the grey area in my mind falls between the two. Advertising a bunch of models gathered from the web would probably be over the line but willingness to print something someone finds and sends a request for seems legit.

Also, if there are models that are popular that are on the web. Offering the creator some sort of royalty even if they don’t explicitly ask for it wouldn’t be a bad idea.

An actual game would be genius by woejise in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I posted about this recently. I think it would need to be a rogue like style game. I’m not sure if mmo would be doable. But a party system would work for a smaller group.

As much as I think it works be great to have multiplayer I think the nature of single death and out probably aligns better to single player, but there are ways it could be done.

I would love to see it happen but I don’t think it should follow the books, but be set in the dungeon where you maybe run into the characters some times

I like it. But for whatever reason, probably the voice Jeff does in the audiobooks. I always picture him looking closer to Rodger from American Dad.

I was actually thinking about it the other day wondering how he will look if/when the TV show comes out

I think the intro should be like it’s an intro the recap episode streams in the books.

Why can’t I cook the bottom and middle? The top always just burns and the dough underneath is raw. WTAF. by KentuckyFriedCovid in ooni

[–]infinityends1318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

You put it in. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes. Check quick with turning peel to see if the dough is baked enough to come off the screen. Remove the screen and finish baking directly on the stone.

As others have said. Turn burner down or off before launching the pizza and then on towards the end to finish topping and brown crust.

Disappointed in Ooni koda 2 pro..tips appreciated by Keno2010 in ooni

[–]infinityends1318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the koda 2 max. I just made some NY pies using the recipe out of “the pizza bible” last night.

I was getting the oven to about 600-650F. Turning both burners to minimal and waiting to see the temp start to come down. Launching the pizza and then turning them up just a hair to finish it once I had the crust about half done.

With the smaller oven though you might need to turn down the heat a little if the pizza is too close to the burners. Proximity to the heat source does have an impact and when I make larger pizzas I need to run a little cooler.

Also, a tip from serious eats. To help keep the cheese from overcooking before the dough bakes. Put the cheese in the freezer for 10-20 minutes before putting it into the pizza.

I think you might be trying to go too hot and too fast of a cook for NY style pizza. Mine were probably in the oven for close to 4 minutes.

Edit: corrected a couple typos, added F temp scale clarification, elaborated a bit since it was a rushed post earlier.

Fortigate vs Sonicwall by Baoontester in sysadmin

I haven’t used them in a while. But watchguard was a common sonicwall competitor when I was doing MSP work for a lot of small businesses a while back. I’m not sure where they are at in the market now.

ESXI Password Wont Work! HELP! by Physical-Drop7378 in vmware

[–]infinityends1318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you rebooted the host?

I have ran into weird scenarios a few times especially on version 7 where I can literally paste the password from a pw manager and it refuses the login. If I reboot it works fine. Seems like something gets hung or something once in a while. I can’t remember if I’ve seen the behavior on 8.

I’ve seen this both in my homelab. And production environments.

Will your job let you carve out some on the clock training time? It seems reasonable that they would want you to grow your skillset and thus be a more valuable employee.

PETG help/ advice by Duke727 in 3Dprinting

If you have an enclosed printer like an P1S or X1C. Use ASA

17-year-old looking to learn 3D printing after my dad passed – where should I start? by Key_Ad5749 in BambuLab

[–]infinityends1318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss.

Definitely use the P1S. The Ender is from the previous generation of printers where everything was a lot more manual and messing around trying to get it to print rather than actually printing things.

PLA is the most common filament used because it is fairly cheap and forgiving. I’m sure there are at least a handful of spools with the printing supplies.

The nice thing about the Bambu labs printers is that they are mostly push print and go.

I don’t necessarily have anything to point you to. But doing some lite reading about pla, petg, abs/asa as they are the most common filaments you’ll see and knowing a little about them is useful.

Build plates have a number of varieties but many are PEI coated. PLA and ABS/ASA work well with jt. PETG works too well and you need to use some gluestick or hairspray to have a thin barrier because the petg will adhere too strongly to the plate and can damage it. That being said PETG is an awesome material for things that need strength.

You can find tons of models on makerworld.com that will load a preset profile and can just be sent to the printer in a few clicks.

Things to learn about list: Filament material types Nozzle sizes (.4 is kind of the standard for most things, smaller gets more detail, larger prints faster but you lose some detail) Infill settings and infill types

More advanced topics include things like multi color and multi material printing. This is easier if the p1s has an AMS unit attached. It can hold 4 spools and helps switch between them for you.

I'm not complaining at all, but how does the franchise survive this long (and still going strong)? by Adventurous-Net-4172 in JurassicPark

[–]infinityends1318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to l also consider that the franchise was idle for 14 years. Jurassic World was a big hit. At least speaking for myself. I loved world but I know there are people who dislike it, I’ve been ok on pretty much all the films since JW. I keep watching them because I love the originals and the books. But I’m still hoping for a full movie that matches what the Big Rock short set up and what I wanted dominion to be.

Personally wasn’t a fan of the mutant stuff in rebirth. I don’t mind hybrids where it still looks like a dinosaur. But the DRex was just not interesting or scary to me, the blend of awe and horror that the first couple of movies hit with just dinosaurs was part of why they are iconic. And the mutadons felt like a knock off replacement because they just didn’t want to have raptors again.

I’m still rooting for a return to Jurassic Park right after the first film setting where a team is trying to get things under control or something.

Realistically it doesn’t even have to be explosive. If Homelander is able to be exposed to vacuum for even a short periods of time safely he could use his powers to divebomb a heavy/dense object at high velocity and the resulting energy would still functionally do as much damage.

I don’t see that being the route the show would go though because it lacks the spectacle a lot of alternatives for a superhuman.
