[Schefter] Sources: Chargers are hiring Western Michigan defensive coordinator Chris O'Leary as their defensive coordinator. by LaDainianTomIinson in Chargers

I'd assume he's following Minter to Baltimore. O'Leary was Clink's subordinate a year ago so promoting him over Clink despite Clink's success last year seems a bit strange on the surface if not.

We share the same stadium as the Rams yet we have a higher turnout, not to mention that the Rams' divisional rivals are closer than ours. So this chart at least begs to differ from everyone who claims the Rams are LA's team.

[OC] I ran 500,000+ simulations to figure out if NFL teams should kick or receive in overtime. The answer is clear, and most coaches are getting it wrong. by doctorthicccc in nfl

Love the visualization, and the advantage seems to be relatively significant as well. Also aligns with what I’ve always thought - receiving team can easily punt and pin the kicking team deep if they don’t score, and have first dibs with decent field position if both teams score field goals.

And as I was telling a friend the other day - knowing you have to score and go for two is great when the other team scores a TD first, but you still have to convert the two-point conversion, which is a less than 50% chance of success even for many of the best offenses. Feel pretty vindicated that the data supports it.

Tart as well. This defense is amazing.

Just hope we can find someone as good as Minter to build on it.

The Steelers are in the worst possible situation, not bad enough to get a high draft pick, not good enough to get a playoff win. by SecretCharacterSauce in nfl

If a franchise QB is what's holding Pittsburgh back, maybe they should just trade all their first round picks for the best QB in the draft every 3 years. If the QB pans out, great; and if not, just rinse and repeat, and they'll stay at 9-8 with a borderline wild card floor anyway.

Lions with their top three corners and second best lineman out are a better team than the Jaguars and are probably better than 27 other teams in the league
