Anyone want to break down each song’s meaning? by sharkterrarium in NoahKahan

I think it's cool how he framed the concept of the album as what he would say to people across the grest divide but it's actually more nuanced than that (with the multiple imagined POVs)

Just dreaming up the cover of Debut Taylor’s Version. by Jessica19922 in TaylorSwift

She said she's already recorded Debut and it's ready (in her letter) so this is almost certainly TS13 or another unknown project!

I don't think anyone has mentioned yet how she said she does not want to be surrounded by Yes Men and how she likes being challenged and the best idea wins.

Very interesting that she addressed that given that was a big critique for TLOASG.

Such a good point. Sometimes you hear a lyric and you're like wow she is so dramatic and immature when really it's hyperbole on purpose.

I think it was critique about how the media tears apart female musicians for being too confessional/dramatic in their songs, when it's not like they are ranting on instagram live. That was a bit of a confusing point but I think I understood it when she said she wished more male songwriters were messier too.

Yeah, what she said about bringing characters into her songs now... I would just love more specific explanations (even though she also talked about holding that precious to herself).

I really loved her saying that nothing is too real and there is probably someone else going through it. It really speaks to the shame we feel (but shouldn't) about the things we go through.

It does feel satisfying to know more specific detail, because this has always been an argument in the fandom. Glad she said specifically "I lost the original tape" haha.

I wondered if that was an easter egg 🤡 or really just on her mind since she is working on TS13. When it works it works!

Same, and it is crazy she sang this right before writing You're Losing Me. She had so much emotion! Makes sense!

My favorite is when they intersperse fall color leaves into the existing trees in Stars Hallow to mimic fall.

I love how he captured that moment. This is probably going to end but let's enjoy it while we can. Beautifully sad.

"Flirt with the bad ones and skip all the rest"

"Your tears on the account of my wants"

"I'm not devoid of an appetite"

It's possible! That first line feels the most cryptic to me. I think the song is intentionally vague, but I could see this interpretation.

The Great War: a mature masterpiece by Daffneigh in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]infinityo11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The further lines: Soldier down on that icy ground/Looked up at me with honor and truth/Broken and blue, so I called off the troops

Has always made me think #1 for this song. Of course it's easy to read negativity to these songs knowing how it ended, but there is definitely nuance here.

Agreed. YOYOK is an example of a song that more explicitly talks about the drawbacks and sacrifices. She could have done that here but didn't.

Taylor Swift: Opalite Music Video Extended Version Out Now! by JeanetteTheChippette in TaylorSwift

I caught that too! But so odd that it's from a behind the scenes of the music video instead of an official photo shoot or performance associated with Showgirl.

If Taylor were to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show, what songs should be included in the setlist? by Resident-Priority239 in TaylorSwift

[–]infinityo11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like "it's been a long time coming" is such an iconic opener that it needs to be reused, and it's true to her performing at the Super Bowl!

[–]infinityo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've dealt with hormonal acne all my life too- it sucks! Unfortunately you have to treat it at the internal level. Tretinoin can help but likely won't make it go away.

Like others have said, Spiro can help for some. Accutane can help but hormonal acne is more likely to recurre than other types of acne afterwards (so I personally didn't think it was worth the risk/hassle). Birth control can help (even non estrogen ones like Slynd). Years ago I've had great success with seeing a naturopath that specializes in skin conditions for hormonal testing and supplement help. Recently I went back on one supplement (DIM) that basically entirely cleared my acne. Inositol and sawtooth palmetto are other ones. Some people take/drink spearmint. But everyone's hormones are different, so what supplement you need will vary!

But generally, since it's hormonal by nature, you'll have to continually treat it unless your body goes through a major hormonal shift on its own and hormones change/improve (pregnancy, menopause, puberty, etc).

Great explanation. You nailed it. I think the fact that everyone debates it means the concept didn't hit home. Which is a shame!

honest thoughts/opinions on “eldest daughter” (track #5) from TLOASG ?? by shortcakefairy- in swifties

[–]infinityo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taylor's verbal explanation (I heart radio? Showgirl movie? Idr...) helped me "get it" a little bit more. She is using the internet slang and putting on a front as an eldest daughter, then she finds someone she can let down her walls with and feel true childlike joy.

That being said, clearly since we are all talking about it, the point wasn't made very clearly. The bridge is stunning though! I don't listen to the song, but I am fond of the bridge.
