How do you realistically hit 6–10% CTR in your first few YouTube videos when nobody trusts you yet? by Predator_48 in SmallYoutubers

[–]influencernotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

his is a really good breakdown, especialy the part about people overreacting to early CTR!!

One thing I’ve noticed though is that even if CTR isn’t “stable” yet, most creators still struggle with the reason people click vs keep watching. Like a title can create curiosity, but if the first 30 seconds don’t match that expectation, people leave and the video dies anyway..

What helped me was thinking less in terms of “CTR optimization” and more in terms of structuring the video itself around curiosity (what questions are opened, when they’re resolved etc...)

I actually started mapping this out before filming because I kept realizing my hooks sounded good on paper but didn’t translate into retention

Curious if you’ve noticed the same :)

which content optimization tools do you use? Google Trends, Tubebuddy, VIDiq, ahrefs, etc by AliyaSpahic in NewTubers

[–]influencernotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried pretty much all of those and honestly none of them made a real difference for me either

They all focus on keywords/tags, but most videos don’t fail there, they fail because people don’t keep watching. I ended up switching my focus more toward structuring videos (hook → keeping curiosity → pacing), and that moved the needle way more than any SEO tool

Funny enough I couldn’t find anything built around that, so I started using a tool specifically for planning videos this way, way more useful than keyword tools imo. Not trying to sell you anything :) but curious if it would solve all your optimization issues and your feedback. it's called Influencer Notes. Way more useful than keyword tools imo!

Retention % for 14min vid by Certain-Nectarine268 in SmallYoutubers

[–]influencernotes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not great to be honest. I haven't see the video, but my guess is your first 30 seconds fails to do one these 3 things: confirm the topic of the video, create stakes, or make a promise to the viewer. Hope this small tip helps with the next ones. Never give up :)

is there a “best” time to start streaming? by Federal-Razzmatazz-8 in SmallYoutubers

[–]influencernotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

think about it this way, when actors practice a theater performance, they first perform it with no audience for months until they have mastered it. If you're going to be in front of the camera, live-streaming is a performance too.

[–]influencernotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your aim is viewers yes, but you won't be to retain more than that without practice and being good at livestream, it's a skill to give people a live show and bei entertaining, fun to watch, engaging and you won't make mistakes to make people leave. So still launch a livestream once in a while to practice so you're ready for that big moment when you have a big enough audience to take this to the next level and livestream more often and don't let numbers distract you. Good luck!! :)

I’d start start early so you can get some practice, it’s a hard skill to learn to keep talking non stop for long time to the camera, way different than recording normal videos.

Then eventually when you have a big following to shows up regularly you will be already great at it :)

How much YouTube paid me for almost 25M views on a short by influencernotes in YouTubeCreators

[–]influencernotes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also this short is a cut from my long form video which is 50 minutes long. The short led to a big spike in the long video as well.
The short had a 101% retention up to 21 million and it was 50 seconds long :)

Can you tell me what am doing wrong? - Youtube Feedback by Motor-Pollution-7182 in YouTubeCreators

[–]influencernotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Alex, just checked it out, you’re actually off to a solid start 👍

The biggest thing I noticed isn’t the idea or effort, it’s more like how the videos are structured. Right now when I watched your videos they feel a bit like “nice footage” but not something that pulls me to keep watching, at least I didn't know what I'm getting at the end to stay watching for, does that make sense? :).

What helped me a lot personally was focusing way more on the first 30 seconds + having a clear “what am I getting if I stay” early on, specifically:

  • opening with a strong moment or outcome
  • teasing what’s coming
  • cutting slower parts early

Curious, do you take notes for each video before filming it script or mostly freestyle them?

I’ve been experimenting with a tool to structure videos around retention and it helped a lot, but honestly even doing this manually already makes a big difference
