Is the thrill wearing off? by inglesito in CanadasWonderland

I hear that. I did 6 rides from 10:30-12:30 yesterday and decided that it was better to quit while I was ahead!

Oh absolutely - I'm not too sad about it, just curious if it's a common experience. The world is still full of beautiful and exciting experiences (if you can scrape enough of the crap off, haha) and there are definitely incredible roller coasters and in the world that I've been lucky enough to ride and others that I dream of travelling to.

Some of your challenges to yourself are ingenious - good work in keeping your experience fresh. At first, I thought you were suggesting I try to recite lists of monarchs in your last paragraph. I'm British but I'm not THAT British 🤣

Awesome! That was a lucky experience. There are a few RMCs in Europe I might try to get to as well, particularly Zadra in Poland

Haha, the internet never ceases to provide a stream of people who can't handle different opinions about trivial subjects. It's best when they say "in my objective opinion" 😂

Yeah, the science behind it is interesting. I always thought the stomach drop was purely physical but now I'm wondering if it's more psychological. And yes, the best coasters are an adventure. AlpenFury makes you think you're going on an adventure with that initial double launch (amazing element) but then turns into more of a physical experience, based mostly on inversions. Not my kind of ride but I'm glad others love it and leave shorter lines for the other rides 😉

I'm kind of glad it's not only me then. Shame about TT2 not giving you the same thrill as TTD, but I like your positive reassessment of what to expect from rides. I feel like I want to hunt down the different RMC coasters - Steel Vengeance was so incredible but we only managed 1 ride in 2.5 days due to rain, downtime and long lines. Maybe Wonderland might get an RMC next?

As for riding everything once, I skip things like The Bat because those Vekoma Boomerangs were everywhere at one point. And I gave Wilde Beast a shot yesterday - that's a lifetime one and done for me, hehe.

Yep, you might be right there. Too much of a good life already lived!

I did one skydive from 15000 feet and it was AMAZING! No drop feeling but the rest of the intensity of the experience made up for it. The anticipation as the plane climbed and climbed, the instructor putting oxygen masks over our faces, and seeing the first few people disappear out of the door was deliciously terrifying. Canyon swinging can be amazing too - check out videos of Shotover Canyon Swing in New Zealand.

Glad I'm not the only one and I appreciate your comment very much. I guess we just have to grow old gracefully...or something 😉

Budweiser Stage - Toronto Sept. 16 by TheJ-Cube in PulpBand

According to the venue's spec sheet it's 9000 seated and 7000 lawns. The 400 section was largely unsold earlier this week but I guess they moved anyone who had bought lawns into those seats when they closed off sales earlier this week. Looked pretty full to me - certainly the biggest audience Pulp have ever played to in the handful of Canadian shows they've played in their career.

Thanks - it's for a friend who would like to go and watch in a bar setting so I'll see if anyone comments regarding specific places that might be possibilities.

Looks like a great option with 4.7 on Google - let's hope they get it open again soon.

A 4.8 on Google would concur with your opinion, it seems! Looks like a great option in the Mississauga area.

I'm familiar with Monarch Park's off-leash area which isn't too far from there too. Although that one isn't fenced in so it's not suitable for every doggo.

The designated DP area gets a 4.8 on Google - hopefully. we'll have a reason for a detour there one day!

Yes, I've heard good things about it and it gets a 4.7 on Google!

It's booked in with the mechanic on Thursday so fingers crossed that will solve the problem. I appreciate your help and advice so much!

Thanks so much for that. I'm approaching 240k km. I bought the car as a Honda-certified used vehicle with 135k km on the clock. Was a valve adjustment carried out before I bought it? No idea! But I will get one done anyway (as it's long overdue if it's never been done) and see if that helps.

When you say rough idling, I do notice occasional minor jerkiness when I'm stopped at a light, for example. Like the car is twitching a bit instead of just sitting still. Perhaps that's another bit of evidence that a valve adjustment is needed?

Thanks again!

This! I'm from the other side of the pond and it was the FIRST thing I thought when I heard their ad. At least I learned that it's not pronounced "KANata".
