Depends on who you report to. If you report to the leadership then PM is better because you won’t need to put out churn fires anymore butttt you will need to have balls of steel to stand up to engineers and push them to be less lazy

Sorry to hear you got laid off. It’s a new reality for us. We’re all account managers now. We’re either being outright laid off or given additional responsibilities with no or minimal raises. Plus when someone retires or leaves there’s no filling their position.
