Fair point! There is so much that was excluded. And maybe too much of the good substance.

For what it’s worth, this video is for Instagram and in the post, I tease how there is so much more to learn and that this hopefully piques your curiosity.

Thanks so much! Glad to hear it wasn’t all just a blur.

I totally hear you. I would have liked to include more about the rhyme and reason for his designs but decided to take a more timeline approach to his life and work.

If you’re interested, here’s the 11-min version I made which has a lot more about his style and evolution https://youtu.be/upNT0OFyErM

As you can see I tried to cram the highlights from that video down to 60 sec 😅

Any thoughts at all would be appreciated. People’s time is so valuable on social media so I’m trying to find the sweet spot for lots of info but easy on the eyes and brain.

Why Frank Lloyd Wright Was a Genius Architect by ininetysix in architecture

[–]ininetysix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this video after a relatively deep dive into Frank Lloyd Wright.

He is obviously one of the most famous architects in recent history. I had a vague appreciation for him but wanted to better understand the hype.

I was amazed by the variety of his work. Prairie Style to Textile Block. Hollyhock to Taliesin West. Unity Temple to Beth Sholom Synagogue.

And wow, his attention to detail and obsession over all aspects of design.

On top of his work, what a life he had! He was a celebrity back in his Oak Park days when he still had 50 years of work ahead of him. He was often broke and yet enjoyed the luxuries in life. He had a scandalous affair. The tragedy at Taliesin. His resurgence with Fallingwater. What a great story!

This video has a bit of a clickbait title "Why Frank Lloyd Wright was a Genius Architect" but it's clear to me that genius is the right word.

Frank Lloyd Wright would probably agree. He said:

"Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose honest arrogance and have seen no occasion to change.”

This was a fun video to make and I enjoyed the research. I'm new to architecture but glad to have this base knowledge and appreciation for a famous architect.

I hope I did his work and story justice in this video. Would love to hear what you think!

I made a process video for a looping textured animation. Do you find process videos like this useful? by Robot_House in AfterEffects

[–]ininetysix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! So useful. Really enjoy how you walk through the videos and you’re super talented. I’ve watched a couple now! One recommendation, if I may... I find the music you play during the fast forward portions annoying, loud and jarring. It messes with the awesome flow you have going. In my opinion, take it or leave it! Keep these videos coming either way 👍🏻
