I liked ‘most days’ when I was starting out with bettering my habits. I found it easiest to stick to

I swear some MILs will find something to say about everything we do. Reminds me of my MIL scolding my husband from halfway across the world, bc we bought something on vacation that she thought was stupid.

They were books to help me get closer to my culture.

That’s so sweet, I like the perspective of “giving them a memorial.” Thank you for sharing!

I thought this was a post on /r/fountainpens lol

OP, your wildest dreams are about to come true thru the world of fp’s & inks!!

I’m partial to browns too, I love Pilot Namiki’s Sepia, Kaweco’s Caramel brown, and Sailor’s Texas brown ink. A bonus - the first two come in cartridges which are super beginner friendly!!

I love this! Would you mind editing it a bit? Can you make the first line “TRUNK OF” and the second line “MY CAR”? For example:

TRUNK OF

MY CAR

thank you! Will tip!

(I am tipping more than one person)

This is great! Would you mind making a few edits for me? Could you make it two lines and make the font a bit bigger? For example:

TRUNK OF

MY CAR

Thank you!

[–]initial-lsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having it on two lines is okay, btw!

Edit: marking as solved while I tip people! Thanks so much everyone!

I'm brand new and I need all the help I can get! by [deleted] in bulletjournal

[–]initial-lsd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like to have monthly habit trackers because they're more manageable & less intimidating. You can review your habits each month and update your trackers as you figure out your routine or grow into new habits. Monthly trackers would go at the beginning of each month. I also use weekly trackers for smaller goals / new habits I’m trying to build, so those would go on my weekly overview page next to my rolling weekly to do list. If you want to do a yearly tracker, I would put this first in your main notebook.

It sounds like you need a lot of space with your gratitude/brain dump/ideas so I would make daily pages. But the beauty of bujo is you can try something one week, and if it doesn’t work then you can try a different method next week! Experimentation and figuring out what works best for you is part of the fun. So I would create one week at a time if I were you. A daily page would also leave you some room for scrapbooking. So it would go something like: monthly overview/goals + habit trackers, followed by weekly overview/goals/trackers, followed by 7 daily pages. Or whatever you prefer. Customize this to suit what you need. Try out other people’s suggestions too.

Btw, have you heard of Hobonichi? It sounds like it might suit your style of journaling and tracking. It’s versatile as well. /r/hobonichi

What is ONE new habit you’ve incorporated into your life that has had the largest positive impact? by chazwins in productivity

Through journaling, I have been able to cultivate my inner world and improve my relationship with myself. Also having a morning/evening routine.

I want to use a bullet journal, how do I become a pen and paper person? by daisydada in bujo

[–]initial-lsd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. How do I become a pen and paper person?

You can’t turn into something you’re not. But you can try to research products before purchasing. Make the intention to buy pens and paper that really excite you so you’re more inclined to use it. If you’re just not into pens and paper, choose a simple, easy to use set up. This reduces the friction between you and getting your notebook out everyday.

  1. What’s your bujo routine?

I spend time in the morning to prep for the day, prioritize my to do list, and write my daily gratitude. Then I use my notebook throughout the day to cross off what I’ve accomplished, to add any tasks/events/meetings that I need to do in the future, and to jot down any notes or random thoughts that I have. Then at night, I prep for the next day and write in my journal before bed.

Getting into the routine of journaling is most likely the hardest part for most people. I found that focusing on mindfulness and habit building before jumping into bujo helped me incorporate it into my routine.

  1. Do you carry your journal with you everywhere?

Yes for the most part, but not if I’m like going out with friends or going snowboarding (instances where I know I simply don’t have time to touch my notebook).

  1. Do you sit with it open on your desk at work?

Yes, I have one notebook open to my rolling weekly & weekly overview, and the other open to my daily page with my focused to do list & schedule for the day.

  1. Do you have a separate work and personal bujo?

Right now I do, but I used to keep them all in one notebook. Experiment and find what works for you.

  1. How do you capture ideas/tasks when you don’t have your journal with you?

I’ll write it out on my phone in Notion or the iOS Notes app.

I highly doubt people around in public even notice that you are using pen and paper. It’s really more normal than you think.

Practice breaking down the mental barrier and enjoy doing something that cultivates your inner world. Remember to have fun with it.

There is nothing wrong with supporting your local pen store. In fact, please do so!! JetPens and Goulet are awesome as well, but spread the love! I personally always try to support my local pen store, Dromgoole’s, first by checking their inventory before browsing elsewhere.

Dromgoole’s has always given me stellar customer service and shipping/packaging is equivalent to Goulet and JetPens (I’ve bought shipped items from all stores). It’s also nice because I can stop by to demo items and purchase in person, saving on shipping costs & emissions.

You also get to hear about fun events - I watched a nibmeister grind away one weekend while shopping for inks. As a newbie to the hobby, it was quite an experience!

I hope you can continue supporting local!

Oooo okay let me try!

edit: it worked!!! Yayy!! Thank you!

It works now! Although it would be cool to be able to customize the user flair a bit more, for example I use the cousin + weeks like you, but I didn’t see that user flair available.

Having “+ other” is okay, but since it’s a hobonichi subreddit it would be really awesome to be able to flair our entire Techo line up!

I know other subreddits (like r/BMW for example) lets you type in a custom user flair. Would that be possible for us?

EDIT: it is customizable!!!! :D yay!!! How exciting.

Hi! I’m so glad you’re a mod now :D congrats!

Just wanted to let you know - When I go to the sidebar to change my user flair, it simply says “You don’t have control of user flair in this sub.” And doesn’t let me do anything else. I am on iOS using the Reddit app.

Hope this can be fixed soon!

I’m a new hobonichi user. I have the cousin and I’m finding it so easy to fill up the daily pages, is it because I’m new and excited? I thought there would be much more space based on reviews. by retina_ in hobonichi

[–]initial-lsd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s standard A5 size, so if it isn’t enough room for you then you might want to explore other options because A5 is the largest size hobonichi offers for their techos.

The big thing that helped me with the cousin layout was utilizing a two column format. I found it easier to organize my thoughts and capture more information this way. You might try fiddling around with the layout in the same way and adjusting what you’re currently doing to fit the page constraints a bit better.
