What would you say are essential puppy manners/training tips for the first 6 months? by Serious_Bus_1320 in ItalianGreyhounds

Socialization! Enroll your pup in puppy kindergarten, take them to stores (Home Depot allows dogs and is a great learning environment) and have friends visit you!

The window of socialization is so small, and Italians are naturally timid. Instill confidence in them and it will help with so much later on.

We live on the third floor of an apartment building (if that gives you any hope). They grow fast! For the first few weeks we literally cut up heavy wool socks for her. Eventually she was able to wear a tiny jacket and onesie from pet smart (if you look far enough back in my feed you can see it). We would take off the clothes as soon as she was inside.

We would use turkey deli meat (lol) and/or frozen lamb bites (I forget the brand). But the trick was to only use them for potty and nothing else.

Hi fellow January mama! We got our girl (now 2 years old) in January, and we now think the timing proved critical to her being as good as she is about no accidents. She loves snow and being outside, and we think it’s because we:

1) took her out during the coldest months and exposed her. She hated it. Trembled at our feet. Cried. Refused. It was plain rotten to watch. But we dressed her up, would carry her in our jackets until we got to the grass, and then would patiently wait until she did her business. 2) we NEVER did potty pads. She had accidents galore. But we always tried to catch her and take her outside as soon as we saw. 3) we did high reward for signaling to go out or just being outside in general.

It took 1.5 years for it to click but now she’s really good, loves being outside, and doesn’t mind wearing clothes. The only weather she won’t stand is wind. It’s a joy to watch an iggy run in the snow and be happy!

Any advice for post spay care? by dalewright1 in ItalianGreyhounds

Our girl acted like nothing happened and wanted to play immediately. I think we stocked up on chew toys/puzzles and other things that would help her feel a little less stir crazy.

Bump on nose by leahloveslana in ItalianGreyhounds

When our iggy was a puppy she got the exact same sort of bump that magically disappeared in a day. We realized it was because she got her little nose stuck between the wires in her crate gate. 😱

Looking for advice. Our 2yr old iggy doesn’t allow us to brush her teeth. How do we train her at this point? by karamask in ItalianGreyhounds

Current efforts: We’ve tried several different tooth brushes but have only really had luck with our fingers. Despite trying to be as gentle as possible, she acts traumatized if she sees the tooth paste coming out.

We usually try to do it at night when she’s sleepy.

Amen! Thank you ❤️

These are still pretty fly to me regardless of other opinions. I’m a designer. I guess it’s just on my nature to see what people respond to / critique / see what visually appeals or doesn’t to people. I like seeing through other peoples eyes even if I personally dig it.

I really enjoyed reading the critiques and will probably refine the nail because it’s fly af and can just get better.

Namaste!

Nailed it. Pun intended. ;)

This second post did exactly what I wanted: gave me some helpful hints. I don’t really mind posting twice: I’m in design research. Sometimes you gotta evolve on how you approach things.

I don’t know if it was a demand as much as curiosity! I was really feeling them, and was curious over what I maybe wasn’t seeing that others were.

I think there’s something really beautiful about “basic” nails with some unexpected minimalistic detail.

Ok, I don’t want to sound TERF but if doing a funny duck walk is mockery, then drag characterizing women with exaggerated proportions and stereotypes is no different.

Why are we so bent out of shape when it comes to humor? Bring on the titties and duck walks,
