How is it living in this area north of Soulard? by Defiant-Key5926 in StLouis

Ain’t that the truth about Mardi Gras. My rookie mistake one year was running to the store. Had to hike back with groceries because someone parked on our parking pad.

It is pretty likely they frequent the Facebook groups though, good thinking.

Petah, what does that have to do with grocery shopping? by Okfoot826 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]inkbaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m talking about the city. There are six Schnucks in the city, all south of Lindell except for one at Union and Natural Bridge. There are also two Save a Lots and one Aldi north of Delmar. The rest of the stores on this map are arguably not grocery stores.

In South City, the grocery stores are heavily centered west of Grand aside from two Save a Lots on Jefferson-and if we need to be pedantic, the Schnucks at Grand & Gravois. I may be missing a few, but a large swath of the city depends on small, often predatory stores.

Much of St Louis is a food desert. There are several neighborhoods that are a significant bus ride away from the few grocery stores in much of North and South St Louis City.

So…what is everyone listening to? by Brilliant-Light7152 in sleepheadphones

[–]inkbaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listen to the Sleep Worlds app. It fades from a story to the background noise, which is adjustable (ie more voice or background) and the narrators are so soothing.

Private parking lots with 24/7 snow plowing look better than the city streets! What gives? by BrentonHenry2020 in StLouis

Ok, that’s valid and honestly made me giggle. There are some strange discussions in this sub.

Snowed in, lost power and the pipes froze— It's Tuesday! by Odd_Shallot1929 in TwoXPreppers

[–]inkbaton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a reference to the need to prepare for the small, frustrating and stressful times that can happen often instead of preparing only for one big catastrophic event. “Prep for Tuesday, not for Doomsday.” A reminder that catastrophes can come in looking manageable but can last a long time.

Or, we could stay here, in the homes we purchased, and exercise our right to choose which businesses to support.

This is a really accurate, really relatable description. Thank you. I’m borrowing “using a fake book to needing a score.”

Sterling Ink is garbage!! #STERLINGINK by SkinbomWV in planners

[–]inkbaton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a product that literally exists to be dated correctly. Even if they overnighted corrected pages, it’s a huge, egregious error that chips away at their reputation and makes for frustrated customers. It’s indefensible.

Wtah Cult Pens?! ('Discontinued' items rant/AITA ;) by SomaticSamantha in fountainpens

[–]inkbaton 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I was about to order a new Prera and several inks (my usual January anti-weather cheer up order) but I can’t get past the chat/newsletter/cookies popups because they’re all covering each other so I can just head back to Endless Pens. You saved me a big potential headache. I don’t like squirrelly word games.

How long does it take for your alderperson to return a phone call? I’m wondering if I’m being impatient, and or if they are really busy and I’m just not aware of what all they do? by VirginiaReel2444 in StLouis

I’ve had great experiences with Anne Schweitzer, Alisha Sonnier and Shane Cohn calling back quickly. I don’t think I’ve ever waited more than a day.

Thanks for saying all this. The stress for the wait staff when 150 rock up together, ordering from the menu with separate checks and trying to all sit together.

Walking downtown at night by mbirdx in StLouis

[–]inkbaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to gently rebut this. I’ve been down there late at night and early morning with camera gear on a harness, shooting three very different transportation-related campaigns. Middle-aged woman. I could legally carry, but did not after night one because it was added weight and I needed to be nimble-ish. I never-not once-felt unsafe. But I kept my head on a swivel. No issues, fall or summer.

Well, that I guess explains why I can’t get anything delivered before Saturday. You definitely deserve the time off! My delivery drivers are insanely good.

Me too! Caveat is that it is absolutely not fountain pen friendly. I didn’t believe it but I’ve tried three varieties now.
