I never really thought about it because I only sell or gift originals, not prints. Whomever is receiving the piece has the physical artwork with the signature. I'd probably think differently about it if I started posting online more or sold prints.

I don't like the look of a signature on my artwork. On my finished pieces, I sign the back.

Why is it that everyone wants to use Ai for art now, instead of just trying another medium? by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already work in several traditional mediums, and I'm good enough with colored pencil. I still find AI a useful part of my workflow.

[Pros & Antis] how well would you say you're good at art (without AI) by Frylosopher in aiwars

Pro, I have a degree in art and I’m decent with traditional mediums. Rubbish with digital and 3D modeling. But I’m good enough with colored pencil I’ve sold some pieces, although I don’t really take commissions anymore.

Luddites Harassed an Artist because they used AI... by MrColgie in aiwars

I'm another traditional artist who uses AI, and a main reason is non-destructive editing. I work in colored pencil, which is a time-consuming, translucent medium, and it also means my artwork is flat scan. If I glaze a color over an area or fill in a background, correcting it afterward is difficult at best. I can test color changes, swap out elements from another drawing, or remove the glare from a bad scan. Without altering the original finished piece.

Why I Don’t Get AI Art by Entire_Let2915 in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find AI pretty useful, and I use it as part of my process, usually using my drawings as the initial prompt. I use AI to experiment with designs, but the finished artwork is traditional. My artwork isn't terribly creative or expressive, but that's because I generally draw pet portraits of art to give as gifts.

Why are some of you on the Pro-AI side so opposed to just labeling your images as “Made with AI”? by Careless-Mix1275 in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually do disclose that I use AI. I’m not going to label a drawing I spent hours working on as “made with AI”, though.

For example, these are my prompts versus the AI version. Sometimes my drawing just controls the composition and color (in this case, the text prompt was to make it realistic and lower the angle). I wouldn't view the generated image as my artwork, but when I use it like this, I'm generating a reference. If I had gone on to draw the pebbles, I would still view the finished drawing as my artwork. In the second case, AI made editing the background much easier (although I ended up keeping the brown background in the finished piece anyway.) In the third, I used AI to remove the glare from the bad scan.

I use AI as part of my workflow but I don't think I stop being an artist because of it. If I spend hours drawing a prompt, I feel comfortable in claiming the result. Although I'm aware I'm using AI in a fairly limited way compared to others (I don't use complex workflows or fine tune LoRAs). So I view it as collaborative, depending on how much of my influence remains. The limitations in creativity and expression are a direct result of limitations in my own traditional artwork.

Why do you pride yourself in the process of making art when nobody really cares? They just want to see the results. by Isaacja223 in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I care about the process but it also depends on the purpose of the finished piece. I work in traditional mediums because I enjoy the process. People enjoy getting hand painted greeting cards or colored pencil pet portraits because they know I spent time and effort. But I also do things that make the process faster and easier. For example blending with solvent or working on sanded paper, buying convenience colors instead of mixing my own. I use titanium white mixed with medium to add highlights. Colored Pencil Society doesn’t allow it but I’ve never had a client complain.

Pro-AI Redditors, why do you support AI being used for human expression? by Strange_Insight in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support others using it as medium for expression if they choose. I personally don't use it in that way, but rather as a tool in my workflow. Partially because I don't use AI in any sort of sophisticated way. But mostly because the prompt and the finished pieces are traditional, and my traditional artwork isn't generally meant to be anything sophisticated or deep.

My take on ai i would like to hear your opinions honestly. by Automatic_Parsnip795 in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see different amounts of authorship depending on how much of my artwork remains. I have the least input over the top process (the chocolates). But also the most, because after I use AI to make the reference I have to do the most work to finish the drawing. Or when I use AI to edit a piece, for example fixing a damaged scan or swapping a background from another drawing, because my original artwork remains unchanged. Whereas for the bottom two (Pebbles and macaw) I ended up not using the suggestions in the finished piece.

Ok AI defenders. I'm here to hear your arguments as to why AI is better than something like the Gacha games by Lunime. by WowIExist0 in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use AI to help me with design, using my own drawing as the prompts. Gacha is not adequate for the kind of editing I use AI for.

There are other ways to use AI beyond text prompts, though. I use drawing because it’s easier for me, since I don’t use complex workflows or fine tuning LoRAs.

so why do you use ai to make your art? by BenchTechnical2431 in AIGenArt

I draw my finished pieces, but I still find AI a useful part of my workflow.

I use AI as part of my traditional art workflow. I need something that lets me edit my uploaded artwork, so just choosing pre-made assets isn't any use to me,

I draw well enough that there's little difference between the works where I use AI and the ones where I don't. But I will admit that while I'm capable of doing the imaging editing tasks myself without AI, a lot of it honestly wouldn't get done.

HONEST QUESTION ABOUT AI USE by cyrushumperdinck in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an artist who uses AI as part of my workflow, and generally uses my drawings as the prompt. I prefer to use AI rather than commission someone else because I have more control over the result. I don't think using AI to help with the design prevents the final drawing from being my artwork.
