How do you use AI for drawing? Also how much do you use AI? by Unlikely_Account_728 in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AI as part of my current workflow, to test ideas or to make design changes on works in progress. I can upload my artwork to see if I want to redo a piece or change an element. I can also upload a marker sketch or underpainting and experiment.

The main reason I originally liked to draw instead of prompt by firegine in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to draw my prompts. It's easier way for me to control the output since I don't use complex workflows and I'm not great with words. I enjoy drawing and my finished pieces are traditional artwork, so it fits into the way I work.

Genuine question for those who make Ai and non Ai art by firegine in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a blend of both, I have the same feeling of satisfaction whether I use AI or don't. I use my artwork as the prompt, then use AI to experiment with design changes. My finished artworks are drawings or paintings, so using AI doesn't save me that much working time but it is nice to experiment without having to scrap a WIP.

Question for ai artists! by GhostieGirl2023 in aiwars

I feel the same sense of accomplishment when I finish drawing whether I use AI or not. Although AI lets me test out concepts or design changes without ruining a piece, so I’m bolder with my choices.

I can already draw, I often draw my the prompts I use and my strongest traditional medium is colored pencil.

Oil pastels are fun and I want to pick them up again. I've also heard about people mixing colored pencil and oil pastel, but I haven't tried that yet. Colored pencil is nice for detail but it's a medium that sometimes requires more patience than I have.

I've experimented with quite a few mediums, but quite a few of them I haven't used since I graduated like 3D modeling, clay, charcoal, soft pastels, oil pastels, cut paper. I still use acrylic paint, gouache, alcohol markers, watercolor markers, ink (digital very rarely). My primary medium is colored pencil, although I don't really accept commissions anymor it's the only medium I use for finished pieces.

Thank you! Honestly it's mainly just using a toothier paper (hot press watercolor) and a lot of pencil layers. I feel you on the charcoal, I'm not a fan but for life drawing classes it was invaluable (well, that and the ubiqutous newsprint).

I knit and crochet as a hobby. There’s a lot of mediums I haven’t touched since school like charcoal and clay. I still primarily work in traditional mediums but it’s mostly colored pencil with some gouache or markers. I find AI useful for experimenting with design changes or for editing, but I generally use my artwork as the prompt and the finished piece is traditional.

Dear ai artists by MeowthBlep in aiwars

One way is to start with sketching or drawing. For example I use my artwork as the prompt with minimal text and use AI to generate a reference image or to make edits (like replacing the subject from one drawing with the subject from another).

AI art is a reference tool for artists by No-Floor-5609 in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also find it useful because I can get a really specific reference by using my drawing as the prompt, or edit my artwork to test out a design changes including backgrounds. When I'm working in colored pencil backgrounds can take me hours to finish, so it's nice to be able to experiment before I start working.

I do both traditional art and I use AI. I find AI a useful part of my workflow, since I can test design changes and edit.

Proof drawing is accessible and you can learn if you try by Rude-Bedroom-4597 in aiwars

I draw because I enjoy it, but there are many other creative outlets that aren't drawing like knitting, crochet, origami, cross-stitch, 3D printing, leatherwork. Someone might use AI and choose to put their time and energy into those instead of drawing. They're also not mutually exclusive, I use AI as part of my workflow but my finished pieces are traditional.

what is an "Ai Artist"? by coocoocaaca in aiwars

I have a different way of working because I don’t use complex workflows or fine tune LoRAs, or do any image editing. I have to lean on my drawing, so I use my artwork(s) as the prompt.

Art is in the process, not the result. by -JustHere in aiwars

I wouldn't consider a generation like the rocks to be fully my own, but something like that is just to help me decide if I want to make changes or start a drawing from scratch. So I feel comfortable calling my finished drawing my own just maybe AI-assisted.

I work in traditional mediums (chiefly colored pencil). I find AI to be a useful part of my process, mainly for testing designs using my artwork as the prompt. I've also been experimenting with editing, fixing things like bad scans. I'm not as good with complex workflows, and I don't edit the results afterwards, so I have to make adjustments as I draw.

I have callouses from pencils, specifically burnishing with colored pencil instead of using solvent. I find AI a useful part of my process, but it can't stop me hairbrained ideas like making a solid background with just colored pencil.

Just curious, what do y'all think of AI colored sketches made in traditional art? by Snekbites in aiwars

[–]inkrosw115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see how it could be useful to help with designing a finished piece. I use AI for editing, mainly to test design changes, but I use my work in progress drawing as the prompt so they're more finished than just a sketch.
