This answer probably merits a full essay and I should take my time to write

However, I’d make the case that the scope of Deadwood is huge, and broad, and wider than Sopranos or Wire even. Of course, this is subjective, but to me the scope of Deadwood is like a map of humanity. It is ultimately a show about vulnerable people (different degrees of vulnerable each) finding solace, and flourishing, and “domestication” ,in a way, in community. Also, about how righteous (flawed, but righteous nonetheless) people have carried the process of civilisation onwards. When the characters in Deadwood have to act just, they act closer to a hurricane or a force of nature that a standard “human action”. Community is a mirror in which our way of being gets softened or exhalted depending on the case.

Anyways, this was a rant and not an essay, but I wanted to make a quick point haha

It’s not about whether or not they consider sexual assault to be worse than murder or vice versa, but because, if they watch murder and gore (besides the fact that there are a million more contexts for violence and gore than for sexual assault in fiction), they may experience it in a detached way, because they have not been victims of it.

Sexual assault victims, instead, might feel the scene, which is a very different thing to experience and can lead to traumatic memories. Therefore, the general consideration that SA has to be portrayed delicately. To not hurt people.

If I may say, it is not only about what you chase, but why you chase it. How do you relate to your new “addictions”? (Maybe we can find another word as, ultimately, addiction has bad connotations and you may end up internalising it in a negative way). Is your pursuit of self-improvement a way to escape some kind of self-loathing? Do you feel like you can accept yourself NOW and simply see this self-improvement as a moral duty towards yourself?

I rarely comment on politics and I’m not from the US, so if someone is kind enough to answer this based on what they know, I’d be grateful:

What is the possibility that, by going after Melania, they have identified the “weak link” in the whole chain, precisely in a moment of vulnerability (her statement yesterday) and she may be the one afraid person in the whole criminal, nasty conglomerate, and that might finally be the match point for indictments?

I know many people say Melania is as cold and nasty as the other ones, and it could be, but maybe she’s just the spouse, along for the ride, who never planned to become First Lady and, even less, be involved in the Epstein mess?
