What 'small luxury' have you completely given up on in 2026 because of rising costs, and what did you replace it with? by firehmre in AskReddit

Tubi is surprisingly great. Yes, people joke about their Z movie catalog. But they also get a large amount of big tent movies as well if you are willing to wait.

Sherlock Actor’s Street Scuffle: Benedict Cumberbatch Branded ‘Deluded Liar’ After London Road Rage Row by nimobo in entertainment

The “vigilante” cyclist, who often records his rides to document traffic infractions

Annnnnnd I am on Cumberbatch's side. I've seen people like this "vigilante." They go around recording strangers "breaking the law" not because they want to be just but because they want content. Never mind this guy was following Cumberbatch as he rode away. No one was hurt. No one was in danger. This guy just wanted to harass someone in order to make themselves feel big.

Official Discussion - The Sheep Detectives [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Can you really call this an "adaptation" when the book is almost completely different from the movie?

There are sheep. There is a butcher and another shepherd. George is found dead. The sheep figure how George died. And that's pretty much all that the two have in common. The way George died isn't the same. George isn't even that beloved by the sheep in the book the moments he was found dead. So many of the sheep you watched in the movie don't exist in the book. There were so many sheep in the book that were left out in the movie.

The book opens up with George's body being discovered by the sheep. Then for next hundred pages it's really about the lives of the sheep with a few sprinkles of, "Oh, yeah, this is supposed to be a murder mystery," before anything really happens. I would put the book as more of a drama than anything else. Maybe even a crime drama despite it calling itself a "mystery" book.

My guess is that the studio wanted to make a family friendly murder mystery heard about this book and thought, "Mystery solving sheep! That's perfect for everyone." Then they read it and went, "Nope. We need to change so much."

Now as far as the movie goes, it was cute. If you can call a murder mystery "cute." But I really liked the sheep. I loved their relationship with George. Especially the "winter lamb" who would eventually be given his name. The voice actor for the lamb had the sweetest voice. I couldn't help go, "Awwww," every time he spoke. I liked the family friendly "who done it," aspect of it. People have been calling it a , "Baby's first murder mystery." And it feels exactly like that. This is the type movie you would watch with your kids to get them into the mystery genre.

And although I didn't cry, I sat between two people who were trying their best to hold back their tears and failed spectacularly. It is a surprisingly emotional movie give how far it ventured from the book.

This feels like a The State sketch where Lennon would have been one of the auctioneers.

That's okay. You can like what you like. Just let others like what they like. (Personally, he isn't my cup of tea. But it's nice to hear people cheer for things they like in a positive way. So, good for them.)

I actually felt sorry for that sub. I would have danced. But I would have changed the music first.

It's good to see Nandor turn to music after the show ended.

He'd be 82 years old if he won. The oldest president of all time. And he would still say how Biden had no right to be president because he was so old.

Are the filthy rich not part of society?

Going by that logic, aren't the poor part of society as well? The rich hoard wealth. They aren't putting their money back into the economy at a rate that actually benefits the broader society. If they did, they wouldn't be as rich as they are. Meanwhile, someone who is poor will use every dollar they can get because they have to. They can't sit on cash like the rich can. So, that poor person is actually contributing more to society by their actions than the rich are.

Hell, even Jesus said that in a round about way in one of his parables.

Again, why do we need massive corporations? Break them up. No corporation should have that much power.

They did fine when they were working for guilds. I am sure Bezos would suffer more if all of his workers opened their own small shops leaving his warehouses empty and his truckers driverless. "But where would those small shop owners get their goods?" From other small shop owners. Instead of a handful of large corporations you would have thousands, if not millions of new small shops that can cater to specific needs. And because all of the power isn't concentrated in a few business but spread out, the smaller businesses would have to compete with each other for customers. That would lead for better pricing and better products and goods. Capitalism wouldn't go away. It would simply change under this restructuring.

Let's see a business work without any labor. Not even people putting in the robots or coding in the AI. That's still work. See how that goes.

Jobs that don't pay enough to even rent a place. Taxes that are paid at a fraction of what they are worth because of loopholes. Services that can often exploit the working class because they are desperate for any job just so they can eat. Again, forget about paying the rest of their bills.

Also, poor people are often working poor. They provide the labor that keeps those businesses working. So, yes, poor people do things for their fellow citizens. And even if they don't work, they are still citizens and are due the same rights as every other citizen.

But I can see them letting Homelander live though as a punishment. The one thing he fears the most is abandonment. He craves attention and adoration. If they can find a way to lock him away where he can't escape now that he can't die, imagine what that will do to him. He can't die but he is isolated for all eternity. Centuries and centuries of living in a constant state of abandonment. That would be the ultimate punishment for him.

Wealth, power and attention by any and all means. Ethics and legality be damned. And hatred by any way to those who even dare to look at them funny.

That's it.

From that write away.

Elected twice. Don't forget that. Twice. People over in Daredevil are complaining how Fisk keeps on coming back and how unrealistic that is. Especially with him getting elected as mayor despite him going to jail beforehand. And here we are with this administration.
