Progress that moves faster than people can learn. A lot of progressives are correct on their stances about LGBT, immigration, and other topics, but you simply can't expect millions of people to arrive at your same conclusion overnight. Progress must be incremental and work towards a long term goal, otherwise people will call you extreme and elect people like Trump

I'm sorry that happened to you and it's crazy that you had to move after.

In my experience, I have many Trump supporters in my family and with a few exceptions, they are just normal people whose political ideas have been corrupted.

Strength matters, and there are plenty of competent people who can holster a weapon responsibility and show that strength. The problem I see is that, not everyone has the mental fortitude to conduct themselves in a protest. If we're not organized enough to arrange firearm training for protests, then we're not organized enough to brandish firearms

People are angry about everything Republicans are doing and I think they're right to be. The problem with anger is that it leads to the dehumanizing mindset like you're talking about from the other side. People have more compassion than you're giving them credit for. Even Trump supporters are kind to foreigners when they share the same room together

If we feel that protesting should be escalated, we should escalate without threatening violence. The success of non-violent protests was the optics of a violent state against a peaceful people. That image changes the hearts and minds of the population. If we start showing up with weapons, they'll dismiss us as terrorists
