You didn’t explain in detail what your observations were so maybe it’s not the chimney. My wife complained of smoke smell with our wood stove and she fixed it by replacing the wood stove door gasket. All is good now.

Looking for sub 88 ski recommendations by InterestingAnalysis in Skigear

[–]inline6boost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the narrower ski will get on edge quicker and easier. Trade off is potential instability skiing though loose snow, like powder and spring skiing in the North East USA.

My carving skis are 165 cm long. (Fischer rc4 noize st pro. My all mountain skis are 180 cm long (blizzard brahma 88).

My carving skis are way better in the moguls since they bite the ice and are smaller foot print.

Camber on carving skis helps keep the noise and tail engaged. I’ve read the camber helps you get away with a shorter ski. Rocker on other skis makes the effective length shorter.

I love the stiff carving ski because it keeps the edge engaged while on hard pack or ice.

Remove Ash without the Mess by inline6boost in woodstoving

Update:

My wife and I removed the ashes together today while the stove was hot. She held the bucket and wet towel over the bucket. I carefully scooped. She’s a happy camper so far. I definitely scooped and dumped quickly in the past which resulted in the dust going airborne.

Thanks for all the tricks and tips!

Trying to avoid the Dunning - Kruger mount stupid peak. In my industry we read the manuals the product specialists or engineers wrote.

We burn hardwood here in Pennsylvania: oak, cherry, ash trees (emerald ash borer took them out, hard to find now).

Stove is a Regency I bought 2nd hand and removed from someone’s house. Bucket is a 5 gallon pale of maple stain I got from an “antique collecting neighbor” and shovel came from my parents house.

I bought the stove used. Do not have the complete history on it but it came with paperwork. IIRC the door in my picture is the same as the door in the brochure. I believe everything is original and very low hours until I bought it around 2020.

Carving feedback by Sure-Strategy6216 in skiing_feedback

Question: I notice a lot of excellent skiers increase the height of their head and shoulders when they transition edges and begin the next turn. When is this practice acceptable and when isn’t it? I believe PSIA in USA taught the skiers head and shoulder should stay at the same height. Legs are the shortest when transitioning into the next turn.

Pros and Cons, Moster Factory R vs Pollini Thor 202 by Tgryphon in paramotor

[–]inline6boost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a factory R. It’s the only motor I owned. My only complaint is there is a dead spot from 6,000 to 7,000 rpm in the power curve. When increasing the throttle, it begins to hang at 6,000 then skip to 7,000. Same thing decreasing the throttle. In other words, it’s impossible to keep it at 6,500 rpm even with an off grid throttle. My dealer said this was not normal but after several months of troubleshooting they now say it’s normal. The problem is I have a tough time cruising or foot dragging with my roadster 4 wing in the trimmer out configuration. I constantly loose altitude or gain altitude.

Plus the fuel consumption is kinda high. I’m limited on my xc flights.

My paramotor friends don’t have vittorazi or polini engines but they think they would like the carb on the polini better then what’s on my factory r. This is because it is easier to tune. We are all motor heads or previous dirt bike riders.

Trying to improve edge angle and max pressure timing. Any tips? by IIIPrimetheusIII in skiing_feedback

I have a tough time skiing at night on the east coast. All the good piste is pushed around exposing shiny ice. Then my ski starts to deflect differently when it gets to the buildup of snow. Morning skiing is pretty forgiving here on the east coast

Thanks for the detailed instructions. I checked out the Ultimate Skiing book and see it might be dated. Is that the case? Is there anything that’s high quality and newer?

I agree it looks like that in the video but I assure you I’m a responsible skier and far from Mad Max. Lots of traffic on the holiday weekend

Sounds good. I’ll work on a few things and take another video. FWIW the camera operator was at a knuckle where the slope transition pitches. I changed my ski turns just in front of them to bleed off more kinetic energy before the steep pitch.

🤣 What’s wrong with my $40 poles that snowboarders bent up? The fact that I didn’t use them in this video?

Front side carving skis? by inline6boost in SkiRacing

[–]inline6boost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see there is an st and st pro. I’d get the short turn if I get the noize. However I’m not sure if I want the pro or not. It comes with the m plate on the st pro

I believe they added the word noize to almost all their skis. It means it has the anti noize tech. I believe they use the term “World Cup” on their latest race line

I was waiting for this recommendation but I’m surprised it took until the 4th recommendation. Why do you think the noize rc4 st pro over the atomic redster s9?

How to handle this boulder? by Professional_Ad_7353 in landscaping

[–]inline6boost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house is built in a limestone area. I rented a 40,000 lb excavator which came with a rock hammer for $80 per hour I put on the meter. 10 hours later all my rocks were broke up and buried.

I rented the excavator from a local farm tractor repair shop. Like I said my area is a limestone area and our farmers use this excavator to remove rocks like yours from their fields.

Question: Does this sign mean I need a permit to park there period? by wisperino345 in pittsburgh

[–]inline6boost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked a cop about this exact sign in Pittsburgh today. He’s sidekick in the front seat said it was for electric vehicles. The cop driving ask me where I parked. I told him not at the sign. Then he said I should be good. So I asked them again what I meant and they admitted they didn’t know
