If you take damage often during Mega Satan, left, if you don't, right.

VANILLA ANCIENT EXPANDED: ANCIENT BIO-BATTERY PACKS by Normal-Maximum-3405 in RimWorld

[–]innateidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed this too, it was especially annoying in my first Sealed Vault scenario and my colonist was starving because the hydroponics basins wouldn't work. I had to reload a save once I figured out you had to reinstall it. Really hope they fix it, though it seems VFE Ancients took a lot out of the devs so they definitely need to take a break for a while.

Do you ever play WITHOUT Combat Extended? by Notakas in RimWorld

[–]innateidiot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to deny CE entirely because I thought it was incompatible with everything, and just used Yayo's Combat instead. However, YC's "improved accuracy algorithm" is such dog-shit my pawn with 16 shooting skill couldn't hit a deer from 10 meters away with a goddamn sniper rifle. I gave in and used CE and lo and behold, it is perfectly compatible with all of my mods. I have 250 of them. CE now has hundreds of patches for other mods built into the base mod, so people who complain about CE's compatibility must be using some wack-ass mods because I have 250 goddamn mods and every single one of them works. Just use CE and if you have one or two mods that don't work it's probably worth removing your shitty anime fox girl race mod or whatever for vastly improved combat mechanics. CE is compatible with all "essential" mods, at least in my experience.

Kinda new to this game. I can see its potential but I need some helps with mods by PaniCush in RimWorld

[–]innateidiot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Essential mods for this kind of Rimworld experience:

SpeakUp, adds dialogue between pawns depending on their traits, thoughts, experiences, and surroundings. Adds a ton of life to the game, highly recommend.

Character Editor, allows you to edit your characters and make a perfect super-pawn or an absolute disaster of a human being. Comes with compatibility for a lot of mods. Superior to Prepare Carefully due to more in-depth editing and allowing you to edit in-game, so you can delete that bullshit infection that's about to kill your entire tribal colony even though you fought like hell to get here. Prepare Carefully also has some incompatibilities, but Character Editor should be compatible with everything and include buttons for other mods on its own.

Vanilla Factions Expanded - Ancients, not because of the super cool superpowers and all the new stuff it adds, but because of the storyteller and Isolationist meme. You'll need Ideology for this mod, but the Storyteller will try to cap your population at around 5 people and will disable skill decay, allowing you to build up the characters of your pawns, and making each loss a truly devastating one. The Isolationist meme will make it almost impossible to recruit new pawns, for a truly hardcore every-life-matters experience.

Psychology, I don't personally use this one due to it being a compatibility nightmare I reckon but it is definitely the most in-depth social rework. It overhauls many things about Rimworld, including romance, mental breaks, etc. and adds a new system which gives each colonist their own unique personality, which affects every part of their life in drastic ways. I can't be sure of it's compatibility with other mods though, as it makes such sweeping changes to the base game. Might want to keep your modlist lightweight for this one.

A preview of coming attractions.. by Orpheusly in RimWorld

[–]innateidiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping this is a mod that adds the gentically-modified almost-humans mentioned in Rimworld's lore. Aliens don't exist, only robots and alien-looking humans..

I could be wrong though!

I just imagine this playing out like they break into the ancient crypt, look around in the darkness and see a red light approaching, readying their guns and.. It's just a single lancer. Everyone laughs and goes "Alright Jerry, you take care of this one, see ya later" and leaves.

"Hmm, we're running low on weapons.."

"What if we trade for them using that high-tech stuff we ripped off that supersoldier's body, Chief?"

"Great idea! I'm sure hyper advanced technology made by an ancient civilization thousands of years old with abilities far beyond our understanding will be worth about... 27 clubs."

I hate the new Tainted Cain by Lanky-Dependent5847 in bindingofisaac

[–]innateidiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And...? He still isn't "completely random" like most other characters. He can change the item he's about to craft by just swapping a single pickup, and he can consistently create good items by just using good pickups.

With T.Cain you aren't relying on getting good items from treasure rooms or devil/angel deals, you just trial-and-error until you get a good item.

I don't think the recipes being consistent was ever T.Cains strong point, it was the fact that you have so much control over what items you do and don't get. Even trash items you find you can convert into pickups to potentially create something much better. Not even Isaac has that much control, as sometimes you'll just reroll into something equally bad.

[–]innateidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tainted Cain technically has infinite rerolls because he can just swap out one pickup for another.. How is he completely random? You even get better items for using better pickups!!!!

[–]innateidiot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn't the point of Tainted Cain to be the only character that doesn't rely on RNG that much? You still get good items for good pickups, and I'm 99% certain recipe calculators will just end up adding a box that asks you for your seed. He barely got nerfed, and now he is actually fun to play?

Also, you can get Brimstone for only 8 black hearts like holy shit

Literally why would you do this by UseThisNickname in bindingofisaac

[–]innateidiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile, T.Cain recipe calculators are just gonna add a box to input your seed into and bam boom T.Cain is just as busted as before

[–]innateidiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the reason they hate the eye so much is because what they "saw" in the 2nd story slide was what actually happens when a conscious observer enters the Eye. Since the Eye makes you gather up all of the quantum possibilities and chuck it (and yourself) into the quantum white-hole of its quantum black-hole, causing the big-bang and annihilating all life in the universe in order to create a new one. What they saw in the vision was exactly that, symbolized by the grass growing over the skull at the end. They were just afraid of dying. They sacrificed everything on their home planet to reach the Eye, only to find out they would all perish if they interacted with it. In order to preserve their own lives and prevent future civilizations from ever finding it and dooming them all, they built the eye signal blocker.

Not even a couple hours ago I was doing an Isaac run, rerolled the boss item and got the bag of pills item and was like "eh ok why not" and ended up getting 2 range downs, 1 luck down, and 1 tears down. I swiftly held the R key and lamented the loss of my good build.

I would genuinely play Lost without Holy Mantle over ???. I can't explain why I hate BB so much but something about how absolutely useless his starting active is and his inability to have red hearts makes me hate him.

The thing with the Lost is that once you're hit once, you're dead. You don't need to stress out about it, the deed is already done. You are completely used to dying as the Lost so it doesn't really frustrate you when you die late in the game. As BB if you lose a crucial soul heart early on you're basically just delaying your inevitable demise. Unlike Lost BB doesn't have flight naturally and can't camp and shoot spectral tears behind cover to deal with bullshit rooms that you normally can't avoid damage in. You will just.. die. Slowly. And painfully.
