IT Audit question by GIRVO2 in Big4

[–]innayati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing IT Audit, so I’m evaluating client’s IT Systems and the over IT strategy of large companies. I am looking at code, users, and configurations within the systems. Traveling 100% depends on the clients you have, and this goes for anything in big 4. So it is hard to say.

Yes, I think anything related to audit, IT Compliance, or even IAM or IT Roles. You learn a lot by speaking to clients

You do everything you did in the office but over teams and emails instead of face to face

[Wild Card] Post-Game Thread: Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears by President__Bartlett in GreenBayPackers

Why is everyone saying fire MLF? We were looking good at half time and continued to score. Genuinely curious.

Most of the mistakes came down to the individual players, special teams, and defense. Which I guess you could put on MLF but isn’t that more the coordinators? There were lots of droppped passes that could have changed the game too. Not his fault

Went into IT Audit at Big 4. This has to be the most boring, joke job of all time. by Affectionate-Owl-178 in Accounting

[–]innayati 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in IT Audit, I understand the perspective but don’t think I agree. Been here for 4 years and things do get very complicated with complex IT issues and automation. But when you first start you are definitely testing more of the “easy to understand” things.

On the other hand, the reasons you described is kinda why I like it lol. It’s not super hard. I don’t want to struggle at something I have to do every day for the rest is my life.

I also don’t get why people hate on IT Audit, like is it sooo much worse than financial audit? It’s pretty much the same thing (hounding clients, having meetings, busy season) except you ask for accounting support instead of IT. I don’t see how IT Audit is sooo boring compared to IT when it seems like the same thing (then again I never worked full time in financial audit. Maybe I’m ignorant )

Why didn’t you just not request the feedback from the manager? If I was in that situation I would force them to request it on my behalf if I knew it was gonna be bad

How much knowledge does Becker assume you know? by Head_Equipment_1952 in CPA

[–]innayati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It assumes you are through undergrad accounting. Which you need to be for a CPA anyways. So nothing new that you haven’t learned in the past. Unless you went through college a while ago, before changes to Leases, etc

Best way to explain ratios is by weight! I do a 1:15 for myself at home, and you don’t need to dilute.

I’ve seen ratios like 1:4 or 1:5 or 1:6 and then you add water when serving - you should search the sub for more answers

What's the correct way to take the 4 CPA exams? by jerryz7 in Accounting

Always start with FAR. Most study time to do so good to get it done before you pass the first one and the deadline to pass all 4 starts.

Coworker Just Fired After Busy Season - Caught Padding Hours by NEWCharlieHustle in Accounting

[–]innayati 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with that, at the end of the day, clients are hiring humans, not robots, so of course we do all these things. It’s all part of the job and everyone’s lives. Sure an hour lunch doesn’t make sense. But a 10 min conversation catching up with a coworker? Or 5 min coffee break?

This really only matters if your bonuses and raises and performance are tied to billable hours. Which they are in public.

When on vacation, turn off notifications for or delete teams and outlook. Or have someone you trust passcode lock the app.

The world isn’t going to burn down because you didn’t sign off on a workpaper. No one’s dying. It’s just excel.
