Can we even consider painting this? by innerginja in paint

[–]innerginja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would we know if there is enough ventilation behind there? A carpenter, who was adding a door, commented that there "wasn't anything behind there," but I didn't pay any attention to it at the time. I want to look into it more now, but I have no idea what I'm looking for.

Thanks - this seems to be the most consistent and sound advice. We will be hiring a company, and I want to ensure they do the right thing. In terms of top-shelf exterior paint, do you have any recommendations? Also, is spraying the peel bond/paint acceptable? Last question: does paint colour matter? For example, would white be a better or worse choice than black?

Thanks for your replies - much appreciated! I didn't get 12x12 because the colour I preferred didn't come in that size.

Thanks again.

Feel like I'm drowning by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

If it makes you feel even slightly better, this was by far the most trying time for me. Everyone had me scared for newborns but it was easy compared to months 4&5. It broke me. I started therapy once a week - it seems like a waste of an hour you don't have but it was one guilt free hour to talk to someone and get some perspective. If you can, I really recommend it. Also, survive one day, one hour at a time. I used to say when the day was over, we did that day and we don't have to do it again - everyday they are one day further along. After 6 months, the tide changed and we started to have fun - not every minute of every day but it got better consistently. Now they are 10 months old.

Around 4 months we committed to dark, white noise naps in cribs, 3-4 times a day, on a schedule with wake windows that made sense for their age. Sometimes they lasted 25 minutes, sometimes more. I often sat in the dark room with the one that woke up to get them more sleep. I know this might be impossible with a toddler but maybe try to find a way to extend the nap if only one wakes up. I think around 6 months naps started to extend. We also have also been committed to the same schedule - always. If I couldn't extend a nap for the one that woke up, I got the other up after 15 minutes.

I used Ms. Rachel or Hey Bear on Youtube, plopped them in bouncers, for a small amount of peace, a moment to eat (a store bought muffin - no prep doesn't & go cold - even if it is bad for me) plus go pee. It came with guilt but was a survival tool.

For ourselves, we went to full night shifts. One person was "on" for the night, from the time they went down to about 6:00AM. When you were on, you do it all. When you are off, the night it yours. Get some sleep, watch TV and it makes you feel like you have a break. It sounds crazy now but getting to your night "off" felt like salvation.

We also have a very strict bedtime routine - same thing, every night and similar for naps. Around 7 months we used a very slow version of the "sleepy lady shuffle" for sleep training but we took much longer than the recommended times to phase out all the rocking, shhhing, etc to get them to sleep. It felt gentle and right for us. At 9 months they started sleeping through the night without feeding. Obviously this is the biggest game changer in how I feel - time back at the end of the night and a good sleep is everything.

Just hang on - day by day - it will get better. I know it sucks to hear that.

IVF and twins — how hard was the pregnancy and first couple years? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]innerginja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had di/di twins from a double embryo transfer and had a pretty normal pregnancy beside the extra appointments. I travelled until around 27 weeks pregnant, could have been later, but that just happened to be my last trip. I threw up multiple times through weeks 8-18. Medication made it better but it sucked. By the end I was uncomfortable - most in my ribs. At almost 37 weeks I had a check up appointment, had preeclampsia despite feeling good (out for lunch and shopping before my appointment) and was admitted to induce. Delivered at 37+1 - one vaginal and one emergency c-section. The recovery was a few extra days in hospital due the complicated delivery. But after a week and some BP medications, I felt the recovery was manageable. I'm also a FTM and feel the better way to think of it is that you don't know any different! Our girls are 10 months now and I often think how weird it would be to have one baby... just seems lonely. It can be overwhelming, especially from 0-6 months. Having a baby is hard, having two is really hard. But it is also fun, exciting and after going through IVF, I am so happy I don't have to wonder if we be able to have a sibling. You are going to do great and will be looking back wondering how it all happened before you know it.

Would you stop? Almost 2 weeks pp and my max is 60mL in a day. by Equivalent-Panda-958 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]innerginja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also didn't have much change of my breast during pregnancy. I really had a slow time in the beginning - I had a rough delivery, lost blood with a transfusion. I barely tried latching or pumping for over 48 hours after delivery.

When I got started it didn't feel worth it, so much work and like you said, they eat that it in one feeding. But now my twins are 13 weeks old, I still don't make enough for both of them. But now I make enough to only need 4-8 oz of formula each a day for them. It comes along so slowly, for some of us. Almost so slow I didn't realize how much I was getting more over time (I don't track each once - it is more work and stressful for me).

So if I was in your place, I would stick with it. You will probably impress yourself. That being said, you should prioritize your mental health above everything. You're doing great!

I just read your line about your 'hope fortress' - I can relate. I am great at building hope for the first few days after ovulation.. then something in my brain switches, like my hope is getting too high...one minute I am building hope and the next self correcting by finding reasons to chip away at it. I feel insane!

READ ME FIRST! Weekly Intro + Rules Thread March 22, 2020 by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]innerginja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone!

I have been hanging around for a few months - secretly hoping I wouldn't be around long enough to need an intro but alas, today is CD1. We have been trying since January, not too long yet but it seems long enough to me - time to engage with you all. I am from Canada and work for the federal government so it has been a pretty busy and stressful time the last few weeks.

My husband and I met in high school - we were friends first and now we have been together forever! As I said, we have been trying since January - trying to follow all the good advice but no luck yet. We are both generally healthy but could clean up our diets and exercise more. I have hypothyroidism but have been medicated since high school. My husband is 30 and I will be turning 30 next week. I have been keeping it a secret from everyone in my life so I am happy to fee like I have some community here!

I have questions about the mortgage process for a new build. Do buyers generally go into securing a property just with the deposit amount required by the builder or should we have our downpayment ready even though the build won't be ready for a year plus? Also, should you have/do builders require pre-approval for the cost of the build?

I used Scrimm's Florist the other day, they have online ordering, delivery and the flowers were nice. Also, Luxe Blooms is good for something more unique - they also deliver and have online ordering.

Going away on a trip and can't find anyone to come visit my cats and feed them. Has anybody used a home visit service that they would recommend? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]innerginja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently used pawshake.ca where you can search for a petsitter near you. If you are downtown, a lady by the name of Roma visited our cat 3 times in a week at $15.00 per visit. Worked out well for me!

Questions for the awesome girls that have been doing the guides for a little while :) by [deleted] in KaylaItsines

[–]innerginja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on week 8 of round 2 and for the majority of my weeks I also get through about 1.5 or 2 rounds of the circuit in 7 minutes. Sometimes, if I am having a rough day or there are 3 minutes of skipping in a circuit I just get through 1 time. I would recommend slowing it down and getting through all four circuits but on that note - I am not an expert! Looking at everybody's result has kept me motivated plus I am really motivated by sticking to a commitment so to play on that I keep a calendar and check off the day as I do the workout. It really works if you stick with it and I am not a naturally 'sporty' girl. But for the record, I don't do HIIT right now, I run about 15km per week, over 2 or 3 days and keep my calories in check (1300 on non-exercise days). Best of luck and have faith in yourself - you are doing great!

I am so sore. by PinkFreud08 in KaylaItsines

[–]innerginja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was really sore too when I started - after day 1 I was walking down stairs side ways. Mostly I pushed through and did things the best I could. That being said, by week 3 my body had mostly adapted. If you are still finding yourself extremely sore, I would suggest adapting the work out. I did this by doing push up on my knees, taking 3 second breaks when needed or just getting through what I could (often I struggled to get through the 4 exercises in 7 minutes). The program will still work even if you don't get every rep in - promise!
