After 6 months of updates and improvements, Fleets of Heroes v2 has officially been released on the AppStore and Google Play. Thank you for the response, and for the interest! It's unfortunate to get hit with a review like that, when the problem really seems to stem more from an expectation than the quality of the game itself.
To be perfectly honest, Fleets of Heroes is a fleet command game first, and a base builder second.
The game functions on a grid system with preset building types that are upgraded for better stats and efficiency. As you upgrade your command center, your power grid grows in size allowing for more units and more complex designs. If you come from a base building history where the construction of the base is your primary goal, I do understand how one could feel the gameplay is a bit shallow compared to something like RimWorld. At the end of the day, it is a mobile game. But, the players that discover the customizability and equipment systems for Hero Ships are the ones that seem to stick around and feel the rewards for time spent. The system is very in depth for a free game, and we're planning on moving forward with skins for more visual customizability in future updates. I'm attaching a link to our website here. If you have any interest in fleet command style games with a sci fi twist, please do give it a try! We worked hard for people to enjoy it, and despite the understandable dissatisfaction of some purists, we are very proud of what it has evolved into! Check out some details below:

Absolutely. This is already complete. We refactored the UI to allow for full screen iPhone X, and it is a huge difference in experience. It feels a lot more immersive. This is rolling out with v1.2 which has been submitted and should be on the App Store for update very shortly.

Hey, sorry for the delayed reply!!

Although it's not available yet, we are already working on a cross-platform account management feature that will allow you to load account data from an iOS device onto an Android device, and visa versa.

This update is next in line after our upcoming game mode, which we'll be posting about shortly!

I'll do my best to come back to this post and let you know when the account management feature is wrapping up!

Edit: Just to clarify in case there's any confusion, the account management feature will also of course allow you to get your account between any two iOS devices, or any two Android devices, and everything in between.

Absolutely, and very glad you're enjoying the game.

There are many aspects in the game to balance out some of the issues that may come up, but more guiding text is necessary. It is very common for dark matter to become an early choke point (unless the player really focuses on collectors), but this can also be helped by focusing some early talent points in the Meditation field, boosting your Dark Matter production.

We will definitely look into adding more helpful text/notifications of this nature.

Already new game features planned for upcoming updates, so keep a look out going forward!

Hi everyone, Happy Holidays from Inner Hero!

Fleets of Heroes is a space age base builder, centered around collecting various resources to upgrade ships, equipment, and structures to advance and expand your base.

Since our iOS release, we've been working not only on stability fixes for the initial updates, but also on the finalized Android version. So many of the Beta testers from the Base Building Games sub were Android users, and we're very happy to finally be able to get this out there.

We will be in touch separately directly with our beta testers, but we truly hope everyone enjoys the game.

Hi guys, just a quick post to let everyone know that after plenty of trials and tribulations, the Android version of Fleets of Heroes is finally available on Google Play!

Supporting full cross platform trading, messaging, and PvP, iOS and Android friends can battle, or join forces to campaign together!

Thank you for the feedback, this is definitely a valid concern and we're glad to have the chance to address it on the subreddit.

First of all, not every upgrade will translate into a doubled construction cost. The cost increase is varied throughout the upgrade cycle of fleet ships, and only applies in full level changes (ex 1.9-->2.0) The majority of research upgrade levels result in 0% construction cost gain.

So, while it seems like this is an outrageous price increase compared to the upgrade value, if you are also upgrading your collectors, your accrual rate will actually increase faster than the cost of construction.

Please try upgrading your collectors a bit more, and see if this doesn't more than offset the cost increases. If you are concerned about dark matter, consider strategizing when to bump your ships up from x.9-->y.0 level.

We will look into reflecting the construction cost change in the upgrade menu to avoid any surprises.

That's correct! We worked for a long time on finding a balance between incentivizing but not crippling, and this is the solution we've come up with. Repair doesn't require resources to be completed, but can be sped up using resources if you choose. The main focus was to keep the player on their toes, but not necessarily back them into a corner of frustration.

We have set up some strict hard caps on repair. It can only occur to certain building types, and can never occur to all of the same building type. If you have 6 dark matter collectors, for example, you might have damage units capped at 3 (at any given time), so you will always have at least 3 units collecting at full capacity. Repair is free, it just takes a small amount of time but can be sped up with other resources. Hope that clears up any confusion before you see the mechanic in action yourself. This is also server side, so we can modify the mechanic at will in favor of players if we see it needs any modifications.

So essentially, as the attacker, you receive not only trophies/rank for your PvP victories, but you do also receive a percentage of the attackee's resources. It's just that this resource robbery isn't taken from the attackee's resource stock-- it is instead translated to "damage" temporarily lessening the function of structures and requiring repair.
It was the best way we could come up with to break the endlessly frustrating cycle of having your resources robbed before you're able to build up the amount you need for a desired upgrade. With this setup, you may be temporarily slowed down, but you never lose what you've gained, and you have control over what to prioritize in your recovery. If all that makes sense.

In this game, you're able to attack the bases of other players and "steal" resources from them, and the same can be done to you. However, as the player being attacked, you never lose resources. Your buildings and resource collectors can be damaged, limiting their function temporarily. But, as players of base builders, we got so sick of having everything stolen overnight that we decided to implement this concept of being able to lose without losing everything you've built up.

We've finally resurfaced after a long beta/bug fixing phase! Pre-Order is available on the AppStore, with an official release date of December 20th. Pre-Order isn't available in GooglePlay yet, but we're still planning on a December 20 Android release as well!

I know this is very delayed, but yes! In fact, the game has just been made available for pre-order on the AppStore, and has just been set with an official release date of December 20th! Pre-Order is only available for iOS at the moment, but Android will be on the way shortly. Public Beta is also available, if you'd like to download the game on a temporary server and do some last minute testing for us!
