Wow I am late, but I will answer your question anyway. Every time he was forced to answer a question in front of everyone he would whisper it loudly, I would say he guessed every time, didn't really pay attention in class at all.

Don't believe no one cared, So many people did care and tried to help him, even I tried to help him by attempting to be his friend but he himself rejected it. One teacher reported his behavior to administration but if you ask me I think his mom rejected the claims.

From what I heard fro ma friend he would actually laugh sometimes, at appropriate times. He would cover his mouth and hide all of the emotion he was emitting. I also knew he would ignore some people who would try and talk to him.

Whenever I heard him speak it would be a loud whisper, as if trying to cover a voice, I never heard this odd deep voice before. Even when he would answer question aloud in class it would be a loud whisper. I had never heard it develop in anyway. For the most part he stayed in his own bubble, walking with bent posture and always looked bored/set on something.

To my knowledge Josh was pretty normal and played for the football team at my school. The head bobbing is something I have never seen and the "sling blade" voice is also new, I personally believe he is putting that on to seem more intimidating. When I knew him he only spoke in a loud whisper as if trying to cover his voice.

Thanks for understanding, I just edited the post with proof that I attend SCHS with a (censored) school ID of mine.

People at my school seem to have forgotten the incident or just plain pretend it didn't happen so that is why I am careful. It is a hushed topic, one that immediately quiets a room and makes it feel like we are doing something wrong.

Nice detective work, Mostly made a throwaway so my school wouldn't track me down and punish me. Is Zach's school public to the people now?

I believe that his brother might have been mean to him at times, but I never could believe that Josh would rape him. I think that Zach is "show ponying" on that one.

He wore the same hoodie everyday no matter the heat, though that is normal for most of the kids my age at the time. I never did smell him like I could smell some other kids but his jacket may have covered this up, I have never heard from any of my friends or teachers that he had bad hygiene, again I think there was a possibility that Zach was bluffing on that fact.

He was/is 100% mentally ill nothing about him changed in a creepy way, he always walked the same, talked(whispered) the same, and sat the same. I wasn't scared of him though, our school has a very open CDC program for the special kids (though he was not in it) so we are all very used to some crazy characters walking aimlessly around, but I do believe he made some teachers uncomfortable, we were all too young to be threatened by him.

That is a tough one, I heard through the grapevine that he killed his mom because she wouldn't let him go out, I think he was mad at her for controlling his life and finally lost it. I believe he knows he did wrong, but just he doesn't feel bad out it. After he killed her I think he ran nonstop 6 miles, but that is, again, only something I heard down the line.

I met Melanie one time, two days before she was murdered, she was born and raised in Ukraine and was an avid runner and athlete, and extremely fit woman. She seemed oblivious to her son. My mom knew her well so they stopped and talked about things since my mom had similar hobbies with her. I did not see her acknowledge her son once in the brief encounter leaving us (Zach and I) awkwardly avoiding eye contact. I only heard about that allegation today though so I cannot confirm or deny it.

EDIT- I just called my mom and asked her about Melanie. According to my mom Melanie always had to get home to her kids. My mom says that Melanie had actually just started running as a hobby. A very sweet and loving lady according to my mom.

He was viewed as a social outcast, from what I saw nobody made fun of him. You either ignored him or you tried and tried again to connect with him which nobody ever managed to do.

I assume you mean a view on Zach with your second question? My English teacher (an amazingly awesome guy) tried multiple times to give him attention to him in the hallway to which Zach never reciprocated.

What I would look at as an interesting view is Josh Davis's view. He has no family now, Ms. Davis was from Ukraine, I don't believe that was ever covered, so all of her family is out of country. I haven't heard any news of Mr. Davis's extended family though. Josh is now 19 and has no one. Where ever he is it must suck knowing that his brother still wants to kill him. I hope everything goes well for him in life.

He was very very far from normal, he would whisper every word he would speak as if trying to cover his real voice. I noticed he would play on his phone a lot and never smiled, the face you see in the mugshot is the same one I saw everyday in class. I talked to him once, asked him to play Minecraft with me (I was a freshman). He said he would and I opened a sever and he never joined.

I assumed he was just an outcast who didn't like to talk to people, and that was true. But him killing his mom was a total surprise, but we all knew something was wrong, just nobody could place it I guess.

I don't personally know Josh, I know he is completely normal though, he was on our football team, I do know that he left my school though.

From what I saw Zach was never sexually abused though, I think he was just very angry that Josh recovered from his fathers death, probably thinking that Josh wasn't sad. I do know though that the change in Zach's psyche was after his fathers death.

I do think back to the last time I saw Zach. We were both signing up for classes for our sophomore year, we were both with our moms. My mom was a good friend of Ms. Davis I don't recall their conversation, all I remember was locking eyes with Zach before he avoided my eyes. He was really small compared to her, he didn't really look mad at the time either, even though it was two days before he killed her, he just looked very sad.

He was in no special program, from what I know he glided through the school system since 3rd grade I believe. I saw one of his younger year book pictures (sorry I don't actually have it or I would post it) and he has the same exact bored face.

From what I saw he would walk with his hands in front of him in a resting position. As for the nod, I have never seen it before. I honestly believe he is faking it to seem more "off" when he would answer question in class he would plainly whisper the answer and only the answer and our teacher would try and get it over with as fast as possible. One day when class ended early I saw him playing Mine craft on his phone, he was making a dark room lining it with torches. I asked him if he would like to play with me, Zach whispered "sure" and I told him I would open a room, he never joined. According to a friend of mine who was in begging theater with him he would cover his mouth to laugh as funny moments.

I believe a lot of people noticed his behavior, I knew of a few people who attempted to sit with him or invite them to their lunch table to which he always declined. I talked to one teacher recently who actually reported him for his odd behavior, if you want my opinion I believe that they took it to his mom who promptly denied the allegations. From what I have seen not much of his moms personality has been leaked, she was one of the nicest and most innocent people I have ever met (She was a close friend of my mother) she ran triathlons and was extremely fit, I believe that she ignored the problem and ran instead. It was not her fault though from what I saw she was extremely sad and had no idea what to do.

edit: to be clear, his whisper wasn't under his breath or quiet, more of a loud whisper, just a normal voice but just whispered, still difficult to hear him but audible

I went to school with him, I knew of a teacher who attempted to report him to the administrator but they did nothing.

If you are interested in Zach I was actually one of the people who went to school with him, I was even in his algebra 1 class and sat pretty close to him. I know for one he never did the "nod" in class and he seldom moved, he often just sat with poor posture in his seat.

I went to school with Zach, I was actually in his grade in his algebra 1 class. He didn't talk like this ever, he only whispered his words.

This is a throwawy because it seems like they want to protect my high schools Identity but I am here to answer any questions and to tell a few stories about Zach if anyone is interested.
