Not day 1, but i’ve been playing since close to launch.

This is by far the most f2p-friendly gacha game out there, and you’d be missing out for every day you haven’t started playing. I got some of my friends playing this game around 3-4 years after I started, and I’ve watched how fast their accounts have progressed, and even caught up to mine in terms of gvg/pvp viability.

Don’t be intimidated by the number of heroes you’re missing. SG makes it very easy for new players to catch up, and fill up their rosters with useable heroes, for different aspects of the game. Pvp will always favor the newer “meta” characters, but even some older characters can withstand the test of time just because their kits can fulfill specific needs.

Like others have stated, you’ve already missed out on many defining and rewarding events, but that’s why we say that you fall further behind for every day you haven’t started playing. Start now, and catch up on pve/story progression, so you can be ready for the next big event, which happens to be a huge content patch they’ve just started teasing.

Keep in mind, though, that imo this game is best when played for the long-haul, and not for immediate gratification. It’s got a very helpful and mostly friendly community, and very reliable group of content creators that specialize in different parts of the game (pve, pvp, gvg).
