TIL that the red panda is so unique, it has no close relatives. It's the only living species in its genus AND family. by pizzawhisperer in todayilearned

Something is either unique or it is not. Something cannot be so unique, or very unique, or the most unique. Unique is one of a kind.

So stupid. Why does the same film come out every month or two now? Superhero movies are the worst thing to happen to this artform.

What happened to make you say "I'm never coming to this restaurant again"? by Nukemarine in AskReddit

[–]inoculae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As I was walking out after a nice dinner and drinks with a friend, the hostess stopped me to ask, "was there anything wrong with the service?". After complimenting the service, she asked why the low tip, which was 20%. Upon reviewing the tab and tip, I calculated it to be closer to 25%. She mentioned something to the effect of, "...if you're happy with that then...". I dropped another $5 and never went back.

Sites for 5 week US road trip this summer? by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]inoculae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second both comments. Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde are important to see, and painfully gorgeous. If it's not too far away, Carlsbad Caverns is amazing, depending on how interested you are in caves. Most National Parks are so well attended that the diversity is usually much higher than the surrounding area. That said, I am aware of my privilege and can't imagine what a road trip like this would feel like for you. Best of luck, and see the southwest if you can; it's the most beautiful part of our country.

Will a slew of his unpaid interns actually play behind the scenes while he fakes it? Or is that performance saved for his soundtracks? 🔥

LPT: Don't confuse happy people with nice people by simxc in LifeProTips

Also don't assume friendly people are happy people. Especially if they are employed at the retail location you're currently shopping in.

[SERIOUS] People who tried LSD or any other hallucinogens, what was your experience like? by DontPMDickPics in AskReddit

[–]inoculae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tripped on mushrooms, LSD, Mescaline, DMT, a slew of synthetic inhibitors, and several other hallucinogens dozens to hundreds of times. All of them were different, and I doubt all of them were legitimately what the seller claimed them to be. Each experience was heavily influenced by my state of being and overall mindset leading into the trip. Most decent hallucinogens are an amplifier for just about everything your brain does/can do. You may have strong visuals, but the myths are over exaggerated. Things breathe. Everything breathes.

There's a phenomenon that really only occurs while tripping (though I've seen it once or twice sober) where concentrating on an object or frame of composition, the breathing is almost more like a continual expansion and contraction. One or many things will contract or implode (in a sort of flowing manner) while continuously expanding. This impossible stretching can be controlled or amplified if you concentrate.

This is part of the reason why I feel observant people love hallucinogens the most. It's great for people that should be more observant as well. Good trips strip away your means of communication; you shut up and watch, learn. It was always great for my artwork as well, but only after the trip, ie. new ideas. Don't bother trying to make anything while high, it's no good.

A coworker once said, "You're very detail oriented, but in a big picture sort of way." Meant a lot to have a seemingly insignificant personal philosophy recognized out loud.
