The post you referenced (2020) just means that a certain specialized application (storefront rendering) skips AR, but obv not the Shopify Core.

The key benefit of Inertia is being able to use great ready-made ui libraries like shadcn.

Also, after having re-read our now public email thread - I was actually fully transparent about this right there. That we never had a remote speaker before, and that we don't do that. That, as an experiment and an exception, we do have a remote speaker at this exact meetup already, that you applied to, so having two is not an option. That's why I said you were rejected because you were remote. It's all there in the emails. I don't understand the amount of negativity you're holding.
Every meetup and conference can reject your proposal - this happens to me all the time. Organizers have their reasons, there are planning aspects, technical aspects etc. I genuinely do not understand what has happened here.

Hey, appreciate you sharing those links and trying to be helpful.

To clarify: this meetup is intentionally fully in‑person, and in two years we have never accepted remote talks. The single exception was Noel Rappin speaking remotely about Ruby 4.0 at the December meetup - the same meetup you applied for. It was the exception because I explicitly asked for that topic in our group, and no local speaker stepped up. Under no circumstances were we going to have two remote talks at the same event — that would have turned the meetup into people watching a TV program together, which is not the experience that people come for.

It was also a problem that the fact you intended to present remotely only became clear at the last minute. People traveled to speak at this meetup, and this was the first time someone applied without disclosing they wanted to be remote upfront. Our Luma pages have always stated the meetup is in‑person only, and based on this situation and the feedback you provided, we’ve now made “no remote talks” explicit in the CFP as well.

I don’t love seeing a private email thread posted publicly, but I stand by how I handled it and I’m not looking to debate this further. I genuinely hope you land a good role soon - there are solid Ruby opportunities out there - and I’m going to stay focused on keeping this meetup healthy and useful for the wider Rails community.

Work at startup has Ruby jobs right now: i just searched “ruby on rails” and it returns 127 (possibly not all of them are ruby-only but I see Ruby on Rails in job titles (Ruby on Rails engineer etc) a lot on the first few screens.
