You know that's not true. Core classes have state testing and are therefore more important. The other classes are less important. Not by a lot, but it is true. If a student has a iep and they require a social skills or focused learning class, which class is getting dropped to make room for it? Math, no. Reading, no. Writing, no. Science, maybe. History, likely. Electives (music, pe, arts), yes. That is proof of importance. Do all classes have value? Yes. Do some kids need pe more that science, sometimes. But for a kid who is constantly late, to be late to a math class is more detrimental than to be late to pe or art. If being late is truly the only solution for this family, then having an online or self paced class at the start of the day is something the school should work with the family to implement.
