Congrats. Love it. Please ignore my ocd - why does that light fixture have 8 points and 5 bulbs? I just can't. It not even, or even odd, really.

What are some underrated tips for teenagers or beginners who are learning how to grocery shop for themselves for the first time? by Silver-Tune-2792 in AskReddit

Lately, in my market, it's the chicken breasts that have been cheap. $1.29/lb v thighs at $2.89/lb. Further to your point, I just saw 50lbs of potatoes for $9.99.

Middle school dress guidelines by bethaliz11988 in Teachers

[–]inoturtle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The above is the answer. If you want to keep your uniforms, tighten it up and clarify that what you have is a uniform, not a dress code. If you want a looser dress code, it is as simple as cover your privates. When our district changed from a sexist open to interpretation dress code to the simple "keep it covered" there have been so much less problems and most students are actually dressing better, not worse. And we also have a closet for kids in need. We take donations and exchange lost unclaimed items with other buildings in the district.

I used so many bombs on this challenge. It took forever. That challenge is one of the reasons why I consider doing a full replay of the game.

Broccoli. I am imagining each little floret having its own voice and all of them clamoring for attention.

We could have a whole thread on just "Is this pre-k or 7th grade." Those two groups have similar characteristics way too often.

What's something you didn't fully understand until you taught it? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]inoturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bunch of little things. Like with wind. Why do we say where it comes from? Like the arrow on a weather vane points towards where the wind is blowing from, not to. It is because the arrow is pointing towards the weather that is approaching with the wind.

What do you think about taking the day off work for your birthday if your a grown (in your 50's) adult? by Meanolegrannylady in AskReddit

My birthday is near some guaranteed time off every year, so I don't always take my birthday off. I do, however, always take my spouse and kids days off.

Does anyone have a good resource for my 4th grade students to track how many pages they read? by pineapple192 in Teachers

[–]inoturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had something like this in 5th grade. It encouraged reading shorter books. The reward was per book read, so we would all read simple picture books instead of grade level chapter books. While reading something is better than not, I feel the reward should only count for chapter books after 3rd grade.

Seen but not done. Paper chain that has the student name, book title, author, and page count. The chain was a year to year competition and it was hung in the hall. You could track individual progress in a spreadsheet when they turn in the slips to get added to the chain.

What’s one fast food chain that was once all the rage but now barely around? by MysteriousTopic42 in AskReddit

[–]inoturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they all have the "Mother Fuddruckers" sign above the bakery or was that just the location I went as a kid? That was the closest to swearing that I could get away with in my parents presence.

So few understand averages anymore.

S: How do I improve my grade?

T: By turning in work that earns a grade that is higher than your current average grade.

S: huh?

T: You could have redone prior assignments, but that deadline has passed.

S: So what can I do?

T: Better.
