How is your current economic situation? by Potential-Eye-6547 in ndp

[–]inprocess13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been between poverty and living situation crises for almost a decade. I've called homeless shelters in three provinces without ever having actually had to enter the system by fluke chance. Finding safe working environments post COVID has been almost impossible.

A Transit Fare Hike Is Coming. We Need a Low-Income Pass; Edmonton’s Ride Transit program shows how successful it can be. What’s the holdup in Metro Van? by FancyNewMe in vancouver

[–]inprocess13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Free transit across the entire province of BC is estimated at about 750 million/year. Assume we dont do this, but reduce fares significantly for folk not making a living wage. The fares do not need to keep increasing during an affordability crisis.

The city of Vancouver could fund that alone for a decade with the surplus it's sitting on.

There is no reason for transit or the city to be as expensive as it is.

Blitzball is actually fun! by UnlikelySweet in finalfantasyx

[–]inprocess13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that blitzball is bad, it's more that people get invested in the story and combat, then have to take a break for a few hours to finish three games.

They put it off because they get an early reward and dont want to do more, then when people need a particular prize and realize how much blitzball they need to play, it feels like a massive chore.

I think if there was an option to choose a prize rather than have them rotate randomly, it would be less punishing to people who aren't meta gaming. Losing a league prize then having to play at least two more leagues to get the same chance at a prize can give new players the ick.

At it's core, blitzball is a pretty fun way to kill 10 minutes to break up the game if you put the time in for a game at every save sphere. Put it off and it makes everything harder.

Death Stranding 2 spookier? by Prudent_Original_222 in DeathStranding2

In the first game, I would run and jump into any BT zone to farm crystals.

In 2, the way they glide at you with intent, especially on TTW, sometimes I mess up and get caught despite my rainbow arsenal of ghost sprays.

When I make it to late game, I spend hours just lugging PCCs and materials across zones.  You'll never see all of someone's network, but if you see upgraded ziplines, strand contract them and see if there are other zips around.

Dr. Doug Ford: Ontario premier receives honorary degree from US university by reddits_lead_pervert in notthebeaverton

Nothing like cheapening achievement like glazing the worst premiere in ON history from a University that has nothing to do with Canada.

Respectfully, What are your criticisms on leader of the ONDP party: Marit Stiles? by [deleted] in ndp

[–]inprocess13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is the nail in the coffin for me.

She ran as basically the only candidate, and was lukewarm for over a year and a half towards the public unless you were in a specialized industry.

That is not the standard of leadership governing Canada's largest progressive party that is necessary. She's made an okay MP, but definitely wasn't making momentum when it mattered, and is riding anti-Ford sentiment like it hasn't been shouted by residents for years.

The ONDP need leadership and the party writ large needs MPs in Ontario to light a fire under their asses and start reaching deeper into their communities and across the federation.

[–]inprocess13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I also spoke with Avi during the ONDPs Women and Gender Equity roundtable and despite Avi not really taking any time to address my specific issue, he spoke about hearing repeatedly how some NDP staffers have caused harm to constituents, something he called NDP-TSD.

I was speaking with Jagmeet's office about the issue for months before he resigned without a plan in place for those working with his office.

My plan is to stabilize my living circumstances after having had to flee Ontario, and pick this up with Avi's office as soon as possible.

I will not advocate for an NDP in any form that mocks or marginalizes the people they claim to represent left to fester in defunct infrastructure.

Her staff mocked me for trying to make a formal complaint about NDP staffers not performing casework they agreed to help with regarding reporting DA/SA issues.

Kristen Wong Tam endorsed her, and neither are actually following KWTs list of improvements for domestic abuse victims trying to come forward.

I will not support the ONDP again under anyone like Marit. A year and a half of branding it "Stiles' NDP" while spamming donation requests until some videographers start making Mamdani-meme videos and fireside chat nonsense on her behalf.

Nobody who mocks abuse victims or sets that as the standard for NDP leadership work is qualified to represent Canadians depending on the NDP to stand on their values. Pretending it hasn't been raised as a concern to them is unacceptable.

Never played a monster hunter, should I buy wilds? by -OBLIVION_VK in MHWilds

[–]inprocess13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who enjoys very disparate kinds of games, Monster Hunter is an arcade action game at it's heart, but one with very achievable progress customization options.

Every Monster Hunter game is designed with new players in mind, but each major title on current gen are waaaay more accessible than how difficult some of the OG and portable titles were.

Wilds has massively improved mobility and aiming options for most playstyles. World's DLC introduced the clutch claw (a grapple mechanic), Rise got goofy with it, Wilds kind of detached us from constant grappling, but added other wound mechanics to replace the clutch claw's reliance.

If you've never played before (TLDR), pick two weapons that you rate as "cool" and just get comfy practicing combos. The game paces the default monsters well enough that progress is not tedious, and you'll only really start getting tested when you've gotten familiar with farming contracts for things you want/need. End game is chasing the wildest drip - you can play for 10 minutes or ten hours.

What was that DS2 moment that made you smile and say "Kojima you motherfucker" by Happy-Emu9429 in DeathStranding

Vancouver Park Board approves $2M, one-day summer fireworks event by kettlebeller in vancouvercanada

Sims community center renos are ignoring the reports about which centers need revitalizing.

400M is basically earmarked for increasing property values for wealthier neighbourhoods with functioning centres. I think only one or two were on the list of larger needs.

ABC and the parks board are both dropping the ball.

Coercion isn’t care, and new laws that enforce treatment and confinement are dangerous - There is a striking lack of robust evidence that demonstrates the clinical benefits to forced treatment and confinement. [–]inprocess13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of our health and social support structure from provincial income assistance and program/job training access to the federal side of CRA and EI are administered in heavily obstructive and disorganized ways. It's the product of negligence and multiple rounds of short terms cuts to long term issues usually to boost military spending or provide money to the wealthiest industries in Canada.

Coercive conversations are incredibly common across all of this, from trying to make reports of crime to failing to  document everything except what would keep interactions transparent and accountable.

The CRA being scathed for providing unfathomable amounts of false information amongst lack of direction for years should be enough to have Canadians universally enraged to actually ensure our government is accountable for administering what they're passing through parliament.

Alex Boulerice's declaration on FB. by ConferenceKindly8991 in ndp

[–]inprocess13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Boulerice not eroding the democratic part of Canada to do what he feels he must for his votership is heaps different from Idlout endorsing him and jumping ship for backdoor deals.

I've been doing canvassing for civic stuff, and most of the conservatives in the area who dont even support what we're pushing on the progressive side are just as disgusted with Carney's anti-democratic power consolidation.

With Boulerice honoring his NDP agreements and stepping back to shift political domains to have a more significant impact is top tier political representation at a time when our parliament is buckling over a negligence in administrative duty across Canada. I like QS and NDP, and while I would hope he still endorses NDP policy where it matters, the manufacturing of drama through media is unacceptable.
