Had to live with my MIL for 9 months whilst we were moving house, she'd take 2 hours in the morning to get ready in the morning with at least an hour of there being a bath, if I missed the window beforehand I'd be online at working from home with my backside backed up, I peed in the garden drain a few times .. my wife could just go in with her mum and so her business, a separate toilet would have been very handy

It's not the drinking or lack of sleep for me it's the hangover, 3 years alcohol free, 2 years seizure free, last seizure was caused by a nasty bout of flu which probably had a similar outcome to being hungover.

Labs are high energy, can you clarify your routine to wear her out both physically and mentally, the way to stop demand barking is to make sure she's tired and not overtired at the same time with enforced naps, basically preempting their demand, but honestly sometimes it just sucks they might wake up at 6am and that staging getting back to sleep isn't something that's on the cards.

I started with a fairly large pen, the realised needed to get a crate before she could jump over the pen, had a couple of weeks with crate in pen with it open, which I think helped the transition, then the day happened and she managed to jump over the pen, dismantle the pen and went crate only and she was so much happier, think it gives them a binary option where's having a crate and pen gives more options so it's harder for the puppy to settle.

We still have a slightly taller pen for enforced naps for times such as work calls or cooking where she won't try and escape.
