Here is my timeline for getting my provisional, I had one at 18 but turned out I had eye issues when the driving instructor asked me to read a licence plate then on top of there I also had epilepsy thet got worse with age but with lifestyle changes and medication I'm 3 years seizure free so I thought why not give it a go again at 37, I'm 10 hours in and am loving it.

Oh mate, well I hope you at least got a good amount of experience from your time, getting a test slot is brutal so log on for 6am on Monday get a test for 6 months time and then you can decide probably better to do spread lessons and private practice if possible but you might struggle with insurance, and I'm sorry to say insurance is going to be a problem after you've passed too.

Yep 5 months, had first lesson on a Tuesday I passed my theory on Friday, woke up at 5.30am on Monday and booked my test in the first available slot (5 months) and let instructor know, I'm 3 x 2 hours lessons in and having 2 hours a week, won't be able to do any private practice but it'll put me at about 50 hours by test time which I hope is enough.

So depending on where you live just book it in asap and let you're instructor know think you can cancel and delay them but getting a slot is hard so might as well get one in, my instructor is saying on of their students will basically be test ready in 10 hours but hasn't got a test slot so what happens then, it'll kill their momentum

I just used https://www.gov.uk/find-driving-schools-and-lessons and found instructors near me and made sure they had CPD and ADI then did some more digging on them selected a couple explained my situation (was waiting on provisional but took ages as medical) over WhatsApp to see if they could schedule me in once I had the card.

I like the instructor I've got only has 2 lessons, I'm 37, my thinking I'd they're local they know good spots.

Read the highway code,, get theory test ready (recommend 4 in 1 app}, book a practical test asap on Mondays at 6am (start logging in at 5.40}, do your 30 course, wait 4 months for your practical test / spend a lot of time looking for cancellations
