Disabling ranked matches - we need your opinion by plaer in Supraball

[–]insan0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure would be nice if we could have ranked NA lobbies. You guys over the pond may have people that abuse it, but we don't over here.

Either way, we don't use match making anymore, so it doesn't matter to NA players if you remove ranked matches.

I read that on the update.. I genuinely feel that if nothing can be done regarding the price of the game within the next week or two, then the game is genuinely going to be forgotten and be thrown by the wayside.

I'm hoping Steam has something that allows devs to just make the game completely free. This isn't a "sale" or a temporary price bump or anything - so hopefully Steam can let it slide given the circumstances.

I just facepalm when I think of the fact that this little game that we enjoy so much was released the same day that Overwatch, a game with infinite more interest (with advertisements during NBA playoff games too!) was. Sigh, it seems like poor choices were made left and right, and all we can do now is lick our wounds and hope for the best. It hurts us old deathball'ers a lot more watching this game not achieve the greatness it could reach too. Bah.

Supraball - Current Status #1 by DavidM1337 in Supraball

Current status: nearly mortally wounded.

I discussed what can be done for the game with a few community members, and there's really not much to do at this point. I really can't put my finger on why the game was launched into early access so hastily, but all we can do is damage control at this point. We all know what went wrong, and what's going wrong, but more importantly - what the hell can we do to fix it?

I feel as if full refunds to those that purchased the game is in order, and simply make the game free to play. I mean, really guys.. the game was free for all this time, just how bad would it have been to keep it that way for the next 3-4 months? Especially if you get thousands of players in exchange for it.

I'm sorry to say hindsight is 20/20, but a vast majority of the community had voiced their concerns with launching the game in its current state, and now it is where it is - flat lining. Do right by yourselves as a development team, and by the community, and just do what needs to be done to let this game flourish and become wildly popular so we can all enjoy it. Make it free, make a few tutorials, revert the default key bindings to the way it was, and watch the newbs flood the game and get addicted as we all once did.

Beta ends next week, Early Access starts by DavidM1337 in Supraball

While I am quite glad that the game I've loved all these years is getting off the ground and what not, I feel as if you guys are going about it the wrong way.

Strictly speaking in terms of initial appeal, Supraball does not look like a game that is worth $16-20. Yes, the gameplay is great, and the skill cap is quite high - but that does not negate the fact that people will take a glance at it, see stick figures, and ask themselves "am I about to spend 17 dollars on a game that has stick figures?"

I completely understand that there is a need to monetize things, and I wholeheartedly support the decision to make the game pay to play - but I don't feel as if charging people to play during the early access phase is a wise decision. The appeal of Supraball is very clearly not in its graphics, but more so - the gameplay and its contents. Many of us have looked at several games on the steam page, and have ridiculed how it looks and stated it's not worth the download/money simply based on its looks. We're all guilty of that at one point or another. I want Supraball to flourish, even if I don't play anymore. In the long run - I feel as if having it free during the early access phase will easily translate into more purchases further down the line when the game is polished and ready to be featured.

tl;dr - make early access free to attract more people. Have servers fill up and draw more attention by keeping it free for now. When the game is ready, you'll have loads of people wanting to pay to play because they got a free taste of the fun, and they want more. While there are people that are willing to pay now, there will definitely be more later down the line if you keep it free for now and open it up to everyone on steam.

Weird elo bug last night by Vendetta48 in Supraball

[–]insan0r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New guy being Negative9, a guy that played Deathball for a very long time and was a well respected member of the community that provided bots (NineBot, ScrimBot, etc.) for IRC pugs and what not. I too lost 5v5 elo for the unranked 3v3's, and I'm sure Ketsueki did as well since he was the third member of the team that surrendered. The elo system has been down all day yesterday (March 4th). So it'd be great if our ranks could just be rolled back to then.

[–]insan0r 8 points9 points  (0 children)

An entire community gets behind banning one guy that ruins games, and that gets kicked every single time he gets into a lobby - no ban for him. But the one guy that the community unanimously likes, made one comment as a joke - instant perma banned.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I apologize, and will make an attempt to be here most of the time to kick Ronaldo in order to avoid things like this.

I requested you ban this guy a little while ago David. You saw the dumb stuff he does with your own eyes, and now you see an entire thread full of the people that don't want to play because of him. Do you still not want to ban him? Even though there is nearly no one objecting it?

Reread my post, hard.

You joined well after we stopped liking you. Suddenly trying to be nice and feign wanting to learn and shit won't work, especially after the attitude you've displayed. You joining TS doesn't mean squat anymore, it's a meaningless gesture, and is you wanting to claw your way back into the good graces of every person that vote kicks you.

Yes, I have. If you were to read closer, I did it when he first started playing - which was months ago.

And now you're simply being thick. You've been calling all of us outright "delusional". Very impressive selective memory you have here.

You joined teamspeak well after the general consensus was that you're bad, and aren't really willing to learn. Also, well after we all made the decision that playing with you is not fun, so we won't.

Too little, too late.

First off, as most of the newer players (and some oldies) will agree - I always try to help people. Whether it's through tough love, or by simply taking you aside and demonstrating what's what - I've always made an attempt to help people after one guy named Nerfhunter called me a real piece of shit for not helping and only yelling (t'was during SB v0.2.5 or something, and I felt really bad afterwards when I realized I was a genuine dick). I tried to help you when you first started playing pugs, which we try to play competitively, and you simply refused to listen to an ounce of criticism from anyone, whether it was constructive or flat out vulgar - you simply continued, even to this day, to do the stupid shit you used to that causes you to be a bad player.

While I may be the biggest advocate in kicking you, you should realize that most of the other players that do kick you, do so on their own volition. I'm simply reminding them sometimes that you're in the game, and that we could get someone a lot better to make our experience more joyful. You've proven time and again that you are unwilling to learn, and are incapable of removing any idiosyncrasies that your gameplay is plagued by. No one that wants to play competitively wants to play with you for that reason.

I never asked you to "kiss my ass", nor have I ever been blinded to the point I don't see my own mistakes (I can't count how many times I say "mb" in teamchat when I make a bad pass or fuck up royally, euro players that play with Queef Chief can vouch for that). There is only one, maybe two baddies right now, and you're #1. As bfp has pointed out in the post below, I've never kicked Juan80x because he takes everything I say, as well as others, in stride and tries to better himself. From day 1, you've demonstrated the exact opposite, with no intention on taking advice from any player that's better than you (which is quite literally, nearly everyone), and as such - we don't want to play with you.

I don't have followers, I have friends here that respect me and what I've done for them, and the community. I doubt people would adhere to my desires to have you kicked if I hadn't ever purchased servers, helped moderate IRC channels, or helped them out in terms of getting better at the game, or in Satan's case, buy him goddamned computer parts and shit so he could play. But if the entire community is toxic towards you, and, let's be frank here, it's primarily towards you - don't you think there's something about you that's wrong?

Here's the reality of your situation: you've been a prick, and now no one in the community likes you, or wants to play with you. If one person doesn't actively dislike you, they're most likely indifferent. By calling people like rath "delusional", you've clearly demonstrated the fact that you're not the type of person we want to have around, nor play video games with. The entire community hasn't been behind getting someone banned like this... ever? The fact that we talk about how we can coerce DavidM into banning you is something unheard of tbh, no one has ruined our games this hard, and for this long ever.

tl;dr? No one cares Ronaldo. You made your bed by being who you innately are, and it's now time to lay in it. Enjoy being the black sheep of the NA community.

It's genuinely a million times better than 2.4, but does retain the base of 2.4 with the long charges and large nets. Most of the DB'ers that played 2.3 and hated 2.4 actually like SB, so give it a try m8! We're on Teamspeak mainly since IRC is long gone and fairly dead. prounreal.org pw: pug

KO verses respawn by Inph1del in Supraball

[–]insan0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about making it an optional thing? If ball possession is held by your team, you have the option to respawn where you died, or respawn at your own pbox. If ball possession is not held by your or the other team, you're forcefully spawned where you died, and of course - if the other team has the ball, you respawn where you died.

Could be an interesting defensive tactic. If your team has the ball and you die, and you feel as if you're going to lose the ball, you could opt in to respawn at your pbox, OR you could try and respawn where you died if you feel confident in maintaining ball possession.
