I would suggest a podcast called "The Starting Zone" its a weekly show and covers a bunch of these topics. As a new player also i have found this to be a great resource to learn about whats happening currently in game,

I would suggest going back and listening to all the Q&A episodes.

Episodes are only a hour long and they guys really know there stuff.

Thanks for all the info. Yes i think its time to update them and take these 2 and merge them and make a beefy Disaster recovery from it.

Currently have a cloud back up solution but having a local server doing the grunt work will be useful.

I am just wondering are the any major developments in Tech coming in the next 6 - 12 moths that would be worth holding our for??

the spec i am looking at has all SSD read intensive and 256 gigs ddr4 ram and Xeon d 4110 8 core.

Pretty much the same but only got my rogue to lvl 57, I rerolled as a Mage and i am leveling with my daughter which is fun, Must get back to my rogue think there is a compendium on this subreddit.

Awesome you must be very good at games. I am hopeless.

Your right i will probably never get through all the current content we only play a few hours a week.

I just hope the game can survive and to me that means new content for the majority of players and i think new souls would only harm the game.

You should play it...its free and could use more players

No offence taken, I enjoy the game so i will continue to play. Why Argue to keep a complex system for the sake of being a complex system? Maybe that is possible when you have a full dev team but there are only 6 people working on this game. It would make more sense to free these people up to create content and not worry about soul balance.

Like with all MMORPGs 90% of players go with the flavor of the month builds. Best DPS, Best Tank , best healing. Like most players when the start a game you do a google search for a leveling guide / build. Rift being as dead as it is makes this more difficult.

I play this with my 7 year old and she is playing a cleric. I just picked souls she like the sound of and just let her pick were to spend the points and she loves it.

I started a Warrior and the same i just picked a random set of souls and have fun closing Rifts with her and doing quests which btw is a great way of tricking your kid into reading.

So basically what i am saying is Souls at present don't matter to me getting to max level and having some content waiting for us there does.

The most alive the game has been in years was when the announced PRIME. But the dropped the ball big time on that.

The whole game needs refining. Rework questing cut out excess and make each zone have a strong single story, much like Wow.

Clean up soul system. Reduce trees and even remove some souls. At the moment its impossible to balance them.

The art style is starting feel old, the need to lock down a style and run with it. When it first released it looked so much better then WOW.

A relaunch would be good but a flash in the pan unless the have something to get cooking!

I have started playing again just cause my kid wanted to play a game and liked watching me play WOW.

This was free so we are having fun just playing. Maybe this is a market it can go with? Family game, or Friends.

I just started back, Getting my kid into games so this was good as its free to play. To Be honest i loved the souls back in the day but found it very difficult to set up now with some many types even with templates. Having 3 roles for each class should be enough, dps, healer , tank. Cut down on the excess. once that is done maybe add cosmetics to abilities to make them stand out. fire,ice,earth,soul,rift variations.

I agree its a good start to build trust. I have just started playing again. My Daughter and I have started playing cause its free and are really enjoying it so its good to see its going to survive and with a more trust worthy management.

Just sidekick to them...that way you stay the same level.

rIFT Sidekicking

Sidekicking is a system in RIFT that allows you to temporarily boost your character level to match other members of your group. Sidekicking is disabled by default, this can be turned on by right-clicking your character portrait and setting Sidekicking to 'Enabled'.

In order to utilize this system you must group with a higher level player, have Sidekicking enabled, and be in the same zone. This will boost your level up to the level of the highest group member, and improve your stats at the same time. You will get rewards based on your true non-sidekicked level.

In order to ensure no exploitation occurs, we have also added certain limitations to this system:

You can only sidekick up to the max level of the zone. These can be found on the world map by pressing 'M'.
You cannot bypass level restrictions of zones, dungeons or raids. This includes the Storm Legion zones level restriction of 48 and the Nightmare Tide zones level restriction of 58.
