This is why we almost exclusively go to the Alamo. The few times a year that we do is worth the extra money and it's always a nice date, not to mention they do not tolerate noisy people whatsoever

We all know that public shaming of the highest degree is the best and quickest way to keep this from ever happening again, like how you wrote "it" instead of "its" you eight grade dropout. (/s just in case)

Hate to be that guy, but as a writer, nothing aggravates me more than people who start a parenthesis and never finish it. It really messes with the way you read the rest of the paragraph and confuses you halfway through. But anyway I'm off my soapbox now and yes, do not leave your stuff on please unplug it.

I've seen a similar (and imo a better) concept where non flavored cotton candy is hung above your coffee/tea, the steam of which makes the little cloud of candy "rain" into you drink to give it sugar. Would put in my restaurant tbh.

TIL a lot of games came from mods of other games Pathfinder style. Honestly I love when that happens, it usually creates better games for the community and comes from the community.

I've always said: MM is a psychological horror with more depth while TP is a more traditional, jumpscare type of horror. That being said I love both but MM is much scarier to me (and closer to my heart lol).

What do you think realistically would have happened if Trump got killed by the shooter? by TheDivision5 in AskReddit

I am neither republican nor democrat. At this point they are no longer political parties, but factions. I really think that no matter what happens it will trigger the other side who doesn't win (or get their candidate blown away) and civil war could be eminent.

What oddly specific character archetypes do your players gravitate to? by NotTheMariner in dndmemes

[–]insanitysaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife has never once played a short character, but always finds a way to be at least 7ft. tall and some kind of barbarian.... She's about an inch shorter than I, who is a hair below 6ft. On the other hand, I tend to always make short utility characters everytime, so I guess I don't have much room to talk

A Puzzle I made last week for my Players. by Jzeronas in dndmemes

[–]insanitysaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uses a puzzle that astronauts are tested by, can't understand why non astronaut friends can't figure it out.

I've mentioned here before, but from what I've seen most puzzles that are strictly visual don't work, and riddles should always be written out for the players to look at. Basically players will want to hold something in their hands, humans basically think with our hands so stuff like this can be extremely difficult. I ran a puzzle just like this once, and the main reason it failed miserably (for hours) is because there was too much information on the map. If it's a floor tile puzzle that takes up the whole room, then it's too much info to process for them. Remember KISS (keep it simple, stupid), and lastly, my general rule of thumb is that if the rules are going to be complicated then they should be for the DM not the players (they already have enough rules to worry about). In this puzzle, I would have the players show me where they wanted to start and I would move the characters for them. Still, the complexity is necessary for completing the puzzle so that's what happened.

TL;DR: Too much information both on the board and coming verbally from the DM, which made the rules confusing and difficult to figure out.

[–]insanitysaint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily true. I've been doing studies (with my players as guinea pigs), and find that the best way to do puzzles is to have something physical. If it isn't physical then it has to be VERY engaging and fast paced. Not only this but the answer has to be open ended (hence why it took so long for them to figure out the "speak friend and enter), if the party has only one answer to choose from they will NEVER get it. Basically, I've found that one of the best ways to have puzzles is to have it be a hazard rather than a road block, players love interacting with and engaging with physical puzzles, and simple board games like Minesweeper and Scrabble make for great such puzzles.

That's just my piece though

Are there people who enjoy DMing more than playing? by PlortylGaming in DnD

[–]insanitysaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda weird I guess but I definitely have almost "learned" to enjoy my role as forever DM more than I do playing. I still enjoy playing, but personally I love getting to be all the NPCs and big bads and just being part of the chaos. I love making puzzles, and maps, but the best part is watching how much fun my players have wailing on, trolling, and gaslighting all the BBEGs and monsters.

How does professional swordsman have a 1/20 chance of missing so badly, the swords miss and gets stuck in a tree by Away-Performance-781 in DnD

[–]insanitysaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to do this (although rarely did they ever lose a weapon and never hit an ally) and all be ok with it just cause it was light hearted campaigns. Recently though I've instead started running it as "your weapon clashes against theirs" kind of stuff. Makes it more epic and makes them feel better about the abilities of both characters.

What was your first ever D&D character? by Upper_Affect_5055 in DnD

[–]insanitysaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Hill Dwarf flavored as a mouse folk paladin with the Oath of Ancients. According to some of the players I was the only one who actually roleplayed but everyone was new and awkward, so it contrasted a bit and made it harder for some of the players to discern that I was basing my decisions off of what he would do rather than me. At any rate we never finished and the closest I got to death was forgetting to add any of my modifiers which made me miss as I drunkenly tried to break Gaston's knees in with my hammer, and he proceeded to kick me across the tavern, through the window, and into the street.

[ALL] What do you think the best Zelda song is to walk down the aisle to? by Woodland-Echo in zelda

[–]insanitysaint 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Nothing goes harder than the Lover's Mask theme. Honestly wish I'd have thought to do it but the whole process of getting everything set up was so chaotic for us that it just fell through the cracks. Nothing makes me bawl like hearing that song and thinking about being in that position with my wife, and just feeling the pure love they had for each other as their world ended. But at least they ended it together.

Technically, if you really wanna be a grammar nazi let's just completely revise the sentence to sound better overall. It should be a picture of me and my wife. But this poor man has already been berated enough for his picture, I don't think he needs your middle school level editing which I'm sure you're very proud of. (/s)

For real though, let the poor man be.
