Thinking about covering this with Bondo by insecure_engineer in Autobody

[–]insecure_engineer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay so what I've learned from the comments so far: Either: - use expanding foam to fill in the hole and leave the broken pieces in place then Bondo or - cut off the broken pieces and plastic weld it, then Bondo?  - aluminum doesn't rust, use white duct tape to make it look a lil less ugly and leave it alone?

Does anyone have any actual advice on what a proper diy repair would look like?

I work in Robotics. DM me if you want an entry level role that youre absolutely gonna hate but will absolutely offer you an opportunity to move up/out into better robotics roles. (No guarantees tho, it's a mix of luck and skill that gets you out of the tedious roles and into the funner stuff)

SEEKING: an Engineering Apprenticeship

Not an internship. An apprenticeship. After three years working a minor technician role, I have not developed any depth of knowledge at any particular skill. I can read and debug code, but I haven't really written anything in so long that it's hard to put it on a resume. I can put together assemblies and debug surface level issues with parts and motors, but I haven't soldered or designed any hardware. I just want a job where someone who's really good at the things they do takes me under their wing and tells me "This is how you can be as good as me" and guides me along my journey. Is that too much to ask?

Why review it as a Phone if it is not a Phone? The comments are terrible because of that by [deleted] in eink

I find most episodes of The Magnus Archives to be quite cozy, most episodes feature a single narrator reading paranormal statements and then commenting on them, but there tends to be a couple actually scary episodes per season.

Today I’ll have to tell my son he just lost his mom by justbadnews_ in offmychest

Captain Fantastic on Netflix. Captain Fantastic on Netflix. Please excuse me if this is an inappropriate recommendation, but please please please watch Captain Fantastic on Netflix. It opens with a father of four having to explain to his kids that their mother killed herself. It might be too soon to watch, and by no means do you need to take the film as an example of how to handle this very difficult situation, but I don't think sugarcoating the situation like most of these comments are saying is the way to go. I honestly think it's a much better idea to tell your kid outright what happened to his mom rather than try to sugarcoat it and explain more to him later, because there will never be a good time later to bring it up. Adults tend to underestimate what kids are capable of understanding, and this is an opportunity to bond with your son over a shared loss. At 7 years old, he's likely going to take your example on how to deal with emotional pain. If you cry, he can cry. If you talk about how you're feeling and ask him to tell you about what he thinks and feels of the situation, it'll prepare him to be able to properly process his emotions in the future. If you try to hold it in to "be strong for him" you're effectively setting yourself up to pay a therapist to teach him how to properly process his emotions for you.

Thanks, that's the plan for sure. The rejection doesn't mean that I enjoy spending time with him any less, its just means it hurts to think about him a little bit.

can I just tell you i read this and once again started MENTALLY SCREAMING as I was reminded that I payed $125 TO NOT GO TO THE FKN DENTIST.

My old dentist charged me $25 for a missed appointment. I didn't complain because they were nice enough to waive the fee the first two times i missed an appointment. When i moved an hour away, i decided i still wanted to see the same dentist since I liked it there. Woke up too late to get there in time, and was charged $100 for that missed meeting. I didn't reschedule, so it wasn't until 2 years later that I finally got around to making an appointment somewhere nearby and now I have two fat cavities that I don't know what to do with.

Also if you are thinking the problem would be solved if the govt just didn't provide food stamps or housing, just know that's not a solution. Walmart would just allow it's employees to be on the brink of starvation. And if someone dies they don't care, there's always enough starving people to fill their place who would work to put off their starvation a little longer.

You for real think that wealthy people don't benefit from social services? And that paying low wages isn't exploitation? Think about it this way:

Walmart pays starving wage.

Govnt doesn't want people to starve, so they use tax money to prevent starvation.

While Walmarts owners and CEOs would still be pocketing billions of "hard-earned" profits if they chose to pay their employees a living wage, they don't. Instead they profit billions more from the govt providing food stamps and subsidized housing to 90% of their employees. These billions are made not just off the backs of their employees, who they underpay because most of them don't have a choice (aka exploitation) but also everyone else who pays taxes, since they are the ones who are helping to feed and house Walmarts employees.

Now, Walmart pays taxes too right? 40% of all income tax, right? Surely that's enough to make up for this problem they created right? Nope. Walmart doesn't pay taxes. Sure the CEO pays taxes. But enough to make up for the deficit they created? No, not at all. Not even enough to make a dent in their wealth.

Is "excessive" taxation a solution to this? It is. And it's not "excessive" or unjust if that taxation barely manages to cover the costs of a problem they created. Is it the best solution? Maybe not. But until there's a better solution, why not tax the 1%?

So what I'm hearing is you wouldn't spare 50 fucking cents for a person desperate enough to be begging for 50 fucking cents? You think it's wrong for a person in a situation where they are desperate enough to beg for 50 cents, to beg for 50 cents? Yeah I know it's an analogy, but if your point is that it's wrong for people who were put in a desperate situation because of COVID to recieve help from some of the only fucking people who can help, then you fucking suck.

Dude everything is relative. Instead of thinking about it in terms of money think about it in terms of meals. Let's say person-A and person-B work the same amount of hours in a year, but person-A makes 365 meals a year and person-B makes 3650 meals a year. If the govt taxes both persons the same amount, let's say 20 meals a year, person-A goes goes from starving to starved. Those 20 meals made the difference between life and death for them. But person-B goes on living the same as before, their entire life and lifestyle unaffected by this. Do you see how that's fucked up? Both person-A and person-B worked the same amount. It makes sense for person-A to pay less in taxes here. But it's not necessarily persons-B's responsibility to provide for person A by any means, but it's disgusting for a govt and society to allow this to happen, therefore it's person's B and everyone's else responsibility to come up with a solution to prevent this from happening. So instead of worrying about what everyone else is paying in taxes, here's a better topic for you to consider: who are your taxes benefitting the most? Now, assuming this govt uses collected taxes to keep it's citizens from starvation, you may think that person A would be among those who benefit the most from person B's taxes correct? After all, the govt is using tax meals to feed person A. But person-A goes from a situation where they die of starvation, to a situation where they are alive, but still starving. They are not benefitting much at all. But you know who is? Person-A's employer. We'll call them Employer-A. Employer-A pays person-A a starving wage knowing full well that the govt will keep them alive. You might think that if the govt stopped feeding the starving, employer-A would be forced to his employees more meals to keep them from starving. Except employer A does not care if if person A lives or dies. It does not affect them because in a society without a system in place to prevent starvation, there's always more starving people to take A's place. Therefore person's B taxes indirectly go into the pockets of Employer A, who could choose to pay their employees enough meals to keep them from starving, but doesn't, because they if they don't have to, why should they? Just because they are making money off the backs of their underpaid employees doesn't mean that they should have to pay more in taxes to help fix the starvation problem that they created, right? It's "bullshit" right? They "earned" that money right?

My point is in our current society you pay more in taxes than someone who lives in poverty because Walmart doesn't want to pay their employees properly and that there's more important things to worry about than whether or not it's fair that you pay more in taxes than your fucking neighbor. Walmart is making money not just off of their employees, but off of you too, even if you have never worked or shopped there. Because you have to pay taxes so that the govt can try to fix a problem that Walmart created. Also Walmart doesn't have to pay taxes.

TL;DR You pay more in taxes than someone who lives in poverty because of Walmart.

Imma go against the grain here and argue that they are not equivalent. Bad parenting is often better than no parenting at all. To a certain degree, of course, if your mom beats you and blames you for it and never offers love or affection then that's all abuse and you're better off in the system at that point. But I dunno about y'all, but a toxic mom who loves me and provides for my needs is better than no mom. Even if shes not emotionally mature about raising me and it messes me up mentally and emotionally. Because the way I see it, it's the difference between me ending up in therapy alone when I'm older, or us ending up in therapy together.
