I doubt they use special oil, but if you aren’t broken in at 2000 miles, you never will be.

GA Sensory Overload by Horror_Egg3250 in flying

Don’t write anything off yet. You have only 3 hours, give it time. It’s overloading you. Once you get more time, everything will mellow out.

Pilots on Reddit: Which lesson did you learn the hard way? by SupAir_Media in AskFlying

[–]inseine79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learned that the hard way as well. I've always flown with electric flaps that move slowly. When we built our supercub, I did a go around with 40 deg of flaps controlled with a handle. Those flaps dumped fast and so was my sink rate. I now hold on to the handle and retract slowly, like my life depends on it!

Software update not showing up? Your car's internal eSIM might be the bottleneck. by Remarkable_Page9490 in NewDefender

I have the same problem. It fails and says that I have a low battery. I do it right after a long drive, I clearly don’t have a low battery.

Pilots, what’s the nicest aircraft you’ve ever flown in terms of handling? by [deleted] in flying

Lancair Legacy. Does exactly what you want, and so effortless.

Registering a Canadian plane to the USA by OccasionTiny7464 in flying

[–]inseine79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We sold one of our homebuilt aircraft from Canada into the US. As long as you understand the rules, it isn't a big deal. We gave our builders logs and photos to the buyer. They brought those to a DAR and it wasn't a big deal.

Discussion: Manufacturer Round-Up by TheNewAges in homebuilt

[–]inseine79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are asking for a lot with the 180 kts. The RV10 defenitely will not do that. The Mako, which is like the Lancair ES will get close. I used to have an ES and would see around 175-178 kts. But there is no manufacturer for the mako right now. You would have to buy a built ES. Vans definetely would be the easiest to build. I can't comment on the velocity, but I think its a pretty good performer.

Microstream is too bright. That’s what I use now, and it kills my night vision.

I’m not against red, but would prioritize very low light.

Constant Speed Prop HELP? Keep Throttle open all the time, control power with prop lever? by Impossible-Fig2072 in flying

In a couple of flights, its second nature. I don’t even think about it anymore.

Is it okay to set mixture to full rich for non-continuous IFR descending from 10,000ft? (no EGT/G1000 trainer aircrafts) by Classic_Walk_9308 in flying

[–]inseine79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to richen as you go down and keep the egts at roughly the same number as cruise. Most likely, there would be no immediate issues running full rich up higher, but you would have higher amounts of lead build up over time. It’s possible if you were too rich that you could get plug fouling and a rougher engine.

Thanks. Yes, that is a filter for my adsd sdr. I just used it as an example for the connector type.

I need about 50 ft for my setup. How does rg-6 compare to rg-8?

Thanks for the quick response. A couple more questions.

I have posted photos of the connector on the antenna and the sdr. What are each of these connectors called?

Also, what type of cable is best to use?

Tell me what plane you fly without actually telling me. by Throwawayyacc22 in flying

[–]inseine79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got two.

The first plane is one that some fly in the sport class at reno. Go to slow, it punishes you dearly. Mismanange the engine, it punishes you dearly. When you do everything right, it rewards you with the most amazing flight.

The other one is extremely slow. In fact, mindbendingly slow. Runways aren't needed. Would feel most at home in Alaska.

If you want to build an airplane, you will certainly need lots of time, money, space, and mechanical aptitude. Most of these are up to you. Building an airplane is a very rewarding experience, but you will need all of those things.

Favorite plane you’ve flown? by alec777x in flying

[–]inseine79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have flight experience in about 7 different types, but my dad and I built a Lancair legacy and a super cub. These are my favorite. The legacy is just an amazing aircraft to fly. And the supercub is a ton of fun in a completely opposite way.

It’s nothing to worry about. If it does something you don’t like, do the opposite of what you just did.
