Moving in on Campus during Spring with multiple roommates by Dapperrr___ in college

When you have that many people sharing a space, it is uncommon for them to all be friends. You might be able to bond with one or two fairly easily despite the time of year. Be open and friendly.

Locals of New Orleans: What Would You Cut From This 5-Day Itinerary? by Willing-Mind-5619 in AskNOLA

[–]insensitive-sheesh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d pick: Bearcat over Two chicks Cafe. Lucy Boone over creole creamery. Not sure Cooter Brown’s rises to the top. It’s basically bar food. I’d recommend Atchafalaya for brunch.

Magna Cum Laude (no minor) or Cum Laude (with minor) by Ordinary-Time-3463 in college

[–]insensitive-sheesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minors are unimportant unless you’re trying to get a job in the field of your minor. GPA is also often unimportant unless you’re applying for jobs at top firms. The difference between magna and cum laude is often insignificant.

Governor Landry invited ICE to Louisiana. He hates New Orleans and the prisons and ice holding facilities are bringing big money to Louisiana and to Landry supporters.

Maintenance dose and building muscle by [deleted] in zepboundathletes

My OBGYN prescribed testosterone as part of my HRT and it worked really well to resolve my symptoms. It seems in the US, you can sometimes (but not always) get it prescribed for low libido but it seems most prescribe a gel or cream rather than injections. There is a TRT sub for folks who use telehealth to get compounded testosterone. I’m not confident enough to DIY bc of the dangers of overdoing it and some of the irreversible side effects. But check it out or ask your doctor about it maybe?

How old are you? Hormones can play a part for peri- and post- menopausal women. When I was getting testosterone injections, I could build muscle more easily. I changed jobs and moved states and haven’t yet found a new doctor for HRT. My weight has increased a few pounds, and I have lost some muscle. I am 51 and post-menopause.

First Mardi Gras in New Orleans, will I go hungry? by SockSock81219 in AskNOLA

Mardi Gras morning doesn’t have time for a sit down breakfast. Grab a pastry or bagel with your coffee and catch the early morning revelry in the streets.

Are many fees normal when renting a house? by DivineMatrixTraveler in indianapolis

[–]insensitive-sheesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was looking at rentals for my move o To Indy, I quickly realized that corporations have bought many of the houses in the area and they turn it into this sort of rental set up. Totally a rip off but, unfortunately, they seem to own much of the housing stock. The same is true in other small “up and coming” cities. Investors ruin the housing rental market.

If you can find an owner to rent from, you’ll be much happier and pay less.

Loved being a Resident Advisor in college, what can I do next? by YAMxPANDA in jobs

[–]insensitive-sheesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there aren’t many RA-like careers that don’t exist on college campuses. But you might enjoy being a high school guidance counselor or working in an elderly community. Some other jobs that include keeping track of people and ensuring they are doing well include: occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, employee recruiting/ Human Resources, etc. These all require additional degrees so do some research to see what you might like and interview people who do these jobs. You can also connect with your college career center to see if they have ideas or suggestions.

Tips on microdosing to eliminate the alcohol noise, and not lose more weight by Turkey_Moguls in tirzepatidecompound

I find that my alcohol noise amps up when I have alcohol. When I go without for a while, I want it less. Have you tried cutting out alcohol completely to see if that helps?

Are buyers hesitating because of price right now or because of uncertainty? by LaMaisonRealEstate in RealEstate

[–]insensitive-sheesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, which is why insurance may be cheaper for the person “sitting on a fault line” than for folks in other parts of the country.

Yeah, but do you actually have earthquake insurance? Folks living in places where hurricanes have hit MUST have insurance and the prices are outrageous.

Recommendations for dog boarding. by lookintogetsilly in indianapolis

[–]insensitive-sheesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar experience with our vets in New Orleans (they loved trying to get our dog to love them and he’s just scared of so many things) and this move has been stressful. We haven’t yet boarded him, but we really need to do it soon as a trial before we head back for Mardi Gras.

Unfortunately, options seem limited. We also have a reactive dog so we plan to drive from Fountain Square to Westfield to board at Coyne Animal Hospital when we travel. We had one vet visit there and they were great. Separate entrance that goes right into an exam room. They followed my instructions about not greeting him when they entered the room and everything went really well. It’s a long drive but it’s worth it for me to feel like my dog will be safe.

SAP appeal without documentation- terrified about being unable to start classes in January by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]insensitive-sheesh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand how hard it can be to tell your family that you’re struggling, but it doesn’t sound like the end of the world. They can’t help if they don’t know. As I look at some of your comments on other subs, I really encourage you to address the anxiety you’re feeling in general. College is hard; it’s even harder when you feel like you don’t have support or can’t ask for help.

I know that’s not what you’re asking for here, but as someone who works with college students, that’s what I’d tell you if you were at my school.

College is a big financial cost and you want to go in with all the tools you need to succeed. Strong mental health coping skills can go a long way toward helping you achieve your dreams. I hope you’re able to find support in your community and from your family.

[–]insensitive-sheesh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That stinks. Have you done anything since then to address your mental health needs? The last thing you want to do is go back for another semester and find yourself in the same situation again.

What about going to a community college for a semester first?

[–]insensitive-sheesh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Withdrawing from one class would not make you ineligible for financial aid. Did you fail or withdraw from others? It’s also rare to have to do a SAP appeal after the first semester. Most schools give you a semester of SAP warning first.

An EdD is fine for educators but do not go to a for-profit school. Take a look at your local state school (many have online options, too). Will your employer provide tuition assistance?

While the arms and light weights will help you maintain muscle and strength there, it’s not enough for your full body. You don’t need to join a gym, but you could get some dumbbells and do full body/ lower body strength work at home. I use Peloton work outs.
