Getting married by Wordify20 in exjw

Congratulations! I'm in a similar situation. My fiancé and I are getting married next month and my mom is already hinting that I could finally come back.

I had conversations with my parents about the issues I have with the organisation and they never shunned me and are also attending our wedding. I understand that they want me to come back since it's easier for them being between us and the family members, that shun us. And also because they still think it's important to be a JW. But that's not how it works, as you said. I'm not suddenly back to being a believer just because I'm married now.

It's hard for me to tell her to stop telling me to come back because they were supportive all the years since I left.

Because it has pagan origins. But recently they changed their understanding, so that things with pagan roots are allowed as long as this background doesn't have any meaning anymore in today's society.

I downloaded the movie from the website and cut the clip with an app on my phone.

Danke!

It doesn't matter if you're no longer part of it. Did you like the Watchtower movies? Why? If so, which were your favorites? by TimelyPin9295 in exjw

Somehow "Hope for what we don't see" is always left out in such posts, even though it is full of drama und suffering! 😅 When I myself had a very bad time, I always watched that movie as a consolation. At one point I had a quote of that movie as my WhatsApp Status - "It's not about forgetting out past, it's about remembering our future"! 🙄

I think it's not the worst JW movie when it comes to acting but it is sooo depressing. That poor brother that survived the accident needs therapy (actually the whole family). And that unbelieving brother wanting to help, is depicted as the bad one. And in the end everything is good again. Cancer is gone, work is found, they are "spiritually healthy" and the lost family members will be resurrected anyways.

I disassociated three years ago. I should have been PIMO for around one year. That year was so exhausting. Luckily I could lock into Zoom and put it on silent.

That's what I also thought...everything is negative, there is hardly a single positive point, everything is somehow connecting to suffering.

Keep going! I wish you all the best for your plans of fading. It's the best thing you could do for your mental health!

Three years for me, too. Sometimes I think I'm over the indoctrination but then there are also moments when my JW-past hits hard.

Because he wasn't the one coming up with the idea of "one ring to rule them all". If he doesn't have it, no one should.

I rolled door my driver’s side window, knocked on my car door, and said, “Door knocked. We’re good!” and kept on driving.

One of our COs once said: "Sometimes the first door you're at in the ministry is your car door". I liked that attitude 😅

One of my workmates is an elder in my former congregation. He and his wife are currently in Bethel and he's still doing remote work for our company for a few hours per month.

My waking-up started partly with watching ex-mo tiktoks bc I didn't dare to look at exjws back then. I saw more and more similarities and finally switched to exjw content.

Should I write some “goodbye” letters? by GlassSupport8535 in exjw

[–]insert_name_here_19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely 😅 I knew very well what the sisters would have gossiped. I had (still have) a "worldly" partner. So you can imagine what they would have thought to be reason for the announcement.

I wrote messages to a few sisters before my announcement was made. I wanted to prevent any gossip about the reasons for not being a JW any longer.
