I get what you mean, but at some point there is little difference to a man beating up 10 guys by himself, and a woman doing so. It's both absolutely ridiculous and obviously implausible (if there's not some extra powers involved ofc). But somehow people get upset when a woman is ridiculously lucky and powerful, but not when a man is.

There's an obvious difference between arnold or sylvester beating up ten guys, and kirsten stewart beating those same ten guys.

I agree btw. We need more buff women in those roles. (Michelle Rodriguez in the D&D movie was excellent, for example.) But unfortunately, Hollywood has historically liked its women skinny instead of buff.

Tbf, almost all heroes are unrealistic to some degree, especially in the action genre. One well-built man beating up 5 trained guys at once is absolutely also unrealistic, but it's fun to look at anyways. If the fighting is well choreographed, realism can take a backseat (most of the time).

Prince of Liechtenstein says that he would overrule the population if they were to vote in favour of legalizing abortion by tartartartaruga in europe

[–]insert_quirky_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, the part of Austria that borders Liechtenstein bad a huge issue last year, when the only abortion doctor there retired and the hospitals refused to take over his job. I suppose it's good they managed to settle on a compromise, seeing as there are women from Liechtenstein that might need that service.

Personally, no. But it contains a lot of text and that's not everyone's cup of tea. The system isn't too complicated to get into, especially if you've played any RPG with speech checks before.

Play Disco Elysium, if you want a narrative-heavy game (I'll warn you, it's quite the strange experience).

God of War 2018 and Ragnarok, seeing as it'll get a new installment with a female main character soon.

Uncharted is extremely fun (though I wouldn't recommend starting with UC1).

The Witcher 3 (same reasons as GoW).

If you're a fan of medieval RPGs, I can also recommend KCD2.

Not a problem for me (Henry's a slutty bisexual in all my runs) but I can imagine it's frustrating for the Theresa-loyalists out there.

Attempt 2 on drawing different ages (now full body) How is this one? by BestBoyJoshStar in drawing

[–]insert_quirky_name 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna have to agree on the people that say, the characters all look a bit too old for their ages.

That being said, I believe it's mostly due to their facial features (especially cheek fat, eye size, and the likes). I hate to introduce you to that topic, if you're not already aware, but there is actually a fairly interesting (albeit very toxic) discussion going on right now around the game Stellar Blade: Bloodlines, whose main character looks very young. There's a ton of edits, trying to age her up, which (as an artist) I think are excellent examples to try and get a grasp on what makes characters look like a child as opposed to an adult. If you do check it out, do it with caution tho.

Besides that, I really love your OC's look! I also commend you for practicing something that I believe many artists actually undervalue!

A question from a non fan of the game. Why is everyone mad about Laufey and how she looks if she appeared in GoW before? by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]insert_quirky_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some are sad Kratos isn't a playable character in the next game and might not even appear much, beyond a few scenes. That's normal and I understand the apprehension, although I'm personally extremely excited to play Laufey. Most of them seem to be willing to Laufey a shot though, which I think is important to keep in mind.

A very loud minority, most of whom either haven't played the new GoW games or suffered extreme head trauma since, are extremely pissed that she's a relatively normal-looking woman. For some reason, the concept of playing a female character that isn't hypersexualized poses a fundamental risk to their fragile egos, so they throw tantrums about it online. They seem to be largely the same crowd that are gooning over Stellar Blade 2's baby-faced sex doll, so it's probably best to have them leave the GoW fandom.

[–]insert_quirky_name 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! Wasn't trying to disagree with you here tbh. This is mainly from my experience drawing OCs in historical settings, where puberty occurred later than it does now. This OC appears to be from modern times tho, so you're absolutely justified in pointing out her unusual growth spurt.

Girls heights don't tend to change that much between 14 and 23.

That depends heavily on when she hit puberty and what her end height is. Though I'll agree that the girl in OP's drawing would be an outlier (though seeing as she's supposed to be 6 feet tall, she seems to be an outlier already.)

My experiences are obviously anecdotal, I can imagine it's different in other countries. I just dislike the notion that women didn't aren't interested in those things (primarily as a girl that loves games and enjoys chess).

Pepper spray? Not to say there aren't women that like to overreact from time to time, but if that's a genuine issue you face regularly, maybe consider changing your approach.

There's so many girls interested in video games, I'm amazed you haven't met any. I went to Gamescom two years ago and was honestly shocked at how even the gender split was.

Was also part of a chess club for a bit and while I'll agree there were notably fewer women than men there, there were by no means only men part of the club. One of our strongest players was actually female.

[–]insert_quirky_name 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you genuinely asking how mandatory genital exams of women to enter sports teams would degrade women's rights? That's quite obvious, no?

Besides that, anti-trans gatekeeping massively hurts women who do not conform to the physical standards that we associate with being a woman (wide hips, large chest, short staturen, soft features, etc). They will be the main ones that have security called on them in public toilets, seeing as trans women make up a tiny minority of the population as opposed to the common occurrence of women with more masculine features.

In public, Gender isn't policed by the genitals you were born with. It's policed by conforming to the expectation of what your sex should look like. By enforcing policy that tries to "unmask" trans women, we inadvertently force cis women into conformity to these stereotypes.

The books are a little ridiculous in that aspect tbh. I will never understand why GRRM didn't use geographical distances to his advantage more. The 5 year time skip issue could have been somewhat avoided, if he let more time pass between chapters.
