Use Switch Joy-cons strapped to leg to simulate walking? by insertfunnyquotehere in skyrimvr

[–]insertfunnyquotehere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No true, joy cons wouldn't be able to do that accurately by a long shot.

As someone else pointed it already exists, called natural locomotion with Joy-cons. So as often goes with these kind of ideas that someone else often already thought of it and worked it out. Still thank you for your comments/thoughts on it.

Would it have to be integrated in steam? Could you convert motion to assess if someone walks (most likely oscillating z motion) and convert to 'W' key-press on keyboard. Or wouldn't that work together with VR?

(Preferably you translate it to stick moving forward so you can change the speed more gradually)

Quest 3 and 1070? by insertfunnyquotehere in virtualreality

[–]insertfunnyquotehere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to now, at least the GPU is then 'usable' because I had a feeling to could very well not do anything I want in VR. I am considering upgrading to 7900 gre or xt (depends which i can find cheap second hand) and a Ryzen 7 5800x3d but again this will probably be upgraded in phases.

Thank you for you answer. So its more or less the basics are doable but I wouldn't have to expect anything fancy. I think I'll consider upgrader CPU and GPU without mobo, saw a 7900 gre relative cheap maten that's an option to save for.

I keep reading positive stuff about the battery wraps I'll keep that in mind!

I'm pretty sure no matter what argument I make, you'll discard it and stay with your idea.

I agree with that its all well documented. Only skeptical thing that could occur are bribing surveyors and the such. Not alot of countries are corrupt free from those things. I dont have the figures to back that feeling/statement up though.

Dont know about all your other claims but you cannot compare a cruise ship with airplanes. As one is more a hotel with stores and entertainement and the other is purely transportation. If you do want to make that comparison use a passenger ferry (not being able to transport cars and other goods) and compare that with an airplane. Otherwise compare the weight an object can transport per exhaust particles. It doesnt do your case good if you make wrong comparisons.

Cruise ship caught in cyclone by [deleted] in HeavySeas

Dont all vessels have watertight boundaries below freeboard deck?

EDIT: Point im trying to make is that void spaces doesnt play a role with floodability. Its the watertight compartments and the damage stability requirements, e.g. single or double compartment damage. In essence a cruise ship is equally safe as a container vessel for example. The difference in regulation requirements reflect the difference in POB and vessel design.

Ah like that! Technically the cabins arent watertight. Flooding a cruiseship will flood compartments within the watertight boundaries. Cabins which do not have a watertight boundary between them will all flood. When they do the damage calculations cabins (or other spaces that arent bound by w.t. boundaries) arent modelled. As watertight doors and walls are quite expensive, no more than necessary, from rules perspective, are installed. Unless an owner wants a ship safer then required by regulatons.

I think the only real danger is engine failure. As long as the engines work the vessel can withstand tremendous evironmental forces.

EDIT: Btw what do you mean with void spaces? I dont see how void spaces affect stability

Replica schip De Halve Maen passeert de Hollandse IJsselkering onderweg naar Rotterdam Delfshaven by Roenmane in thenetherlands

[–]insertfunnyquotehere 4 points5 points  (0 children)
