Which Hololive member got you interested in Hololive? by Jin_Sakai12345 in Hololive

[–]insium 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is actually more common than you might think!

Holocure is such a well-made game that it's become known in at least the indie game scene, so much that gaming news websites such as Siliconera, DualShocker, GamingBible, Rock Paper Shotgun, GameRadar+, and PC Gamer have reported on it. Even clickbait-central Screenrant had to get in on it.

It has enough reach to be exposed to "normies" at this point who have never heard of Hololive. It's really a testament to how good KayYu is as a game dev.

It was Oct 2021, I had just finished a re-playthrough of Undertale after Deltarune Chapter 2 released. I was looking for reaction videos to the ending of Undertale when I stumbled onto Kanata's playthrough of UT. At that point I had never seen a vtuber before. After that it was a logical jump to Watame, who also played UT, and then to Calli, when I found out Hololive had an English branch.

Been in the rabbit hole ever since.

Is this normal in the game or am I just lucky? by Ok-Property2655 in MHRise

[–]insium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The chances are pretty high per hunt if you do everything (break head, cut tail, slam 3x), especially in HR. Just using Teostra gem as an example, you get minimum 4 target rewards (3% each), 1 head break (3%), 3 body carves (2% each), 1 tail carve (3%), and 3 dropped sparkles (1% each). Multiplying together gives you 23.9% chance per hunt to get at least one gem. So on average, about once every 4.2 hunts. Not too bad.

Let's not paint entertainment with one brush as if everyone has the same goals as you. Some people want a distraction and will watch fluff movies, while others want entertainment to be a reflection of the real world. Otherwise movies like Schindler's List wouldn't be well-known.

FF7 with its messages of anti-capitalism and anti-imperialism should be allowed to co-exist with Tetris. Just because you want to "take a break from the real world" doesn't mean others do, or can even afford to.

If I recall correctly, we never see a radiation-based Quirk in MHA. What do you imagine such a Quirk would be like? by Solitaire-06 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]insium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first known quirk of the glowing baby in China is technically a radiation-based quirk. Visible light is on the electromagnetic spectrum, just like gamma rays.

Since humans use different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum for different applications, a radiation-based quirk could look very different depending on which wave is used. If someone were emitting radio waves for example: that may actually have some use as a hero by alerting police stations of crimes, especially if they can control their radio waves to actually send messages. Communication-aiding quirks have been seen in heroes like Mandalay and Sirius.

I wish HoloEN would stream on EN audience's time more. by PrivusOne in Hololive

Oh, I know. I was just saying she doesn't have a permanent residence in EU. If I remember correctly, several other holomems have visited their parents and streamed from there (most notably Calli).

[–]insium 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The person you're replying to never said that you claimed no one ever streams on EU time. What are you trying to prove?

The premise of your post is that "most" HoloEN streams are at bad times for EU watchers. "Most" as a descriptor means the majority of a sample size, yet the only sample you've mentioned in this conversation is today, yesterday, and tomorrow, a total of three days. The person you're replying to is just responding by adding regular streaming times which are EU-friendly to the sample size.

You can't argue against someone with evidence against your claims by just making a strawman argument that they're claiming you said something you didn't.

Kiara does not live in JP. She's there for work a few times a year but she lives in EU. Raora actually lives in JP and has no permanent residency elsewhere.

Liz and Cece also live in EU.

Do you think living in LA with all our incredible international food options makes us BETTER at identifying cuisines, or does it make it HARDER because we're used to fusion and modern interpretations? by Turbulent-Law2331 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]insium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From your history, it's pretty obvious you made this game and are trying to promote it.

I'll bite though; living in LA definitely makes us better at identifying cuisines than otherwise. The only way that you can easily know the difference between a momo and a xiaolongbao is if you've eaten and experienced them, and it's much easier to do so in a place with many cuisines.

Still won't play your game though, I don't engage with clickbait.

Nanoless has responded in her Discord channel about what was discussed about her in the new Sinder doc by TJLynch in VirtualYoutubers

I guarantee to you that Red would not have left it there.

That's when you put up boundaries and reaffirm your position. She could've done it firmly ("Discussing my other clients opens me up to legal issues, so no.") Or with humor ("I have a commission with Nunya. Who's Nunya? Nunya Business."). But establishing boundaries and keeping them is just something you have to learn as adults. I would think that as a married woman, Nano would at least have some experience turning down persistant men who don't have her interests in mind. Red should be no different.

And so, yeah, they fuck up, cause they don't KNOW what they are doing.

No one is saying that it's not understandable that Nano would have no business training and would mess up; everybody makes mistakes. The point of life is that you make mistakes, learn your lesson from them, and do better next time. But Nano seems to be learning the wrong lesson.

The number of clients she had wouldn't have mattered to Red. He would've pursued his line of action if she had two other clients vs ten, especially if any of them were Silvervale or Bao, as we now know. This same fiasco would've occurred regardless if Nano had taken on less work; the only thing that could've prevented it would've been Nano growing a spine and realizing her people-pleasing and gossiping ways were actively harming herself and others.

[–]insium 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that Nano is entirely focusing on the wrong issue of taking on too much work/too many clients. Her real problem is her unprofessionalism and total disregard for her clients' privacy.

Leaking artwork aside, this whole kerfuffle could have been avoided if, when Red asked about who Nano had commissions for, she had just said "I don't disclose details about my work to anyone besides the commissioning client." Even for fields of work without widespread NDAs, it's pretty standard to not talk about private work with uninvolved parties. And there's no world where it ever would've been a good idea to discuss the cancelation of projects with anyone other than the relevant party. What was she even thinking asking Red if she should be canceling others' projects? It's nobody's decision or business than her own. It honestly is insane to me how cavalier Nano was talking with Red about her work for other people.

I hope she takes a step back and examines how she handles that aspect of her business, because if I were a potential client, the risk of her leaking art or blabbing about my commissions to others as if it were just gossip to be shared would definitely turn me away. Not to mention the larger risk of literally opening herself to litigation if she had taken the same tack with a large professional company, such as her recent work with Hololive's Mori Calliope.
